PureVPN setup guide for Windows, Mac and Linux
This tutorial will guide you on how to install and configure a PureVPN on your computer using a PureVPN account.
If you have used a PureVPN account before then you already know what it is like.
The concept is quite simple. You log in to your PureVPN account through your browser. Once you are logged in, you are redirected to the login page. At the bottom of the page, you will find a link to download the app for your operating system. If you have done this, skip to step 3.
If you are not already signed up to a PureVPN account, then follow this step by step guide on how to sign up. PureVPN is an excellent VPN that is free to use with absolutely no commitments. There are a range of benefits that come with signing up. You can use PureVPN when travelling and when accessing geo-blocked websites.
If you are new to PureVPN and want to sign up, then read this guide now. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
Step 1: Check your email inbox. Check the inbox of the email address used for your PureVPN account. A box will appear. Inside that box, there should be a link. Click on the link, and another window will open. You will see a number of pages. Make sure you click the link that says 'download app'.
You will also see a button at the top. If you hover over it, you should see 'Download now'. Click on it to begin downloading the software.
Step 2: Choose your operating system. Now that the software has been downloaded, you can install it on your computer. PureVPN is available for Windows, macOS and Linux. I recommend Windows for Windows users and Linux for Linux users. However, the steps below should work for any operating system that you use.
Log in to your account. Select the option to download the app for your OS. You may need to do this after a long time. The process may take some time. In the end, the software will appear and you can click on it to begin installing.
Once it is complete, you will be ready to use PureVPN.
How do I manually set up PureVPN?
The steps to set up PureVPN are actually easy enough, but there is a lot of jargon involved in the process that may not be clear for newcomers.
If you have access to tutorials or official PureVPN documentation, you will be all set. If not, keep reading to find out more!
What does "Auto" mean? If you are following the simple steps outlined above, you will come across the phrase "Auto" before entering the VPN's password. Simply open the device that has a VPN connected to it and enter the "Auto" password to log into your PureVPN account on that device. This helps because the same passwords aren't entered multiple times in the same day.
Do I need to enable a separate IP address for PureVPN?pure/config.txt: Change a line from #dnsmasq to #unbound .
To make this happen, simply type the command: su -c /home/
Then log in to your PureVPN server as your username by running pure login
Now that we've got some background on setting up PureVPN, let's get started!
Does PureVPN work on Android?
I recently switched over to using PureVPN for my VPN needs, and I am very happy with the service.
However, I am having some issues with using it on my Android phone. When I plug it in, it starts downloading a bunch of stuff from the VPN's servers, but it seems to have trouble connecting. It works fine on my desktop computer, and I can get it connected via my router on my other computer, but not on my phone.
It never lets me connect to the VPN. This is my problem, I have not been able to find anyone else having this problem. Is there something I am doing wrong? I am not a technical person, so I could use some help.
I am on a Verizon network, so I am not sure if that might be the problem. Have you tried using the app on your phone, and logging into the service on your computer? When you have a good connection on your phone, you should be able to hit the Connect button on the app, and then it will connect to the VPN server that you've selected in the app. I just tried this and it worked for me. I use a SGS3 running Android 4.2. I had to change the DNS to OpenDNS.
I've been reading up a little bit on Android lately, and it looks like the problem may be the proxy settings. If you're running an Android 4.4 or later, you can use the following method to disable network proxies in the VPN settings.
To do this, you'll need to navigate to your device's settings. Next, open the Advanced option in the VPN settings. Scroll down to Proxy Settings and you'll see a list of proxy servers. To disable them, simply remove them from the list. Now go back to the VPN settings, and restart the VPN. You should be good to go! I used to use this app when I was on T-Mobile and I couldn't stand their slow connection speeds, but it worked well with my PC. I tried it out with my phone and it still won't connect, even though I have it configured to use OpenDNS for DNS.
