Can I install ExpressVPN on multiple devices?

A few weeks ago, one of our readers asked us about the possibility of setting up an ExpressVPN subscription on two different devices at the same time.

We asked the team at ExpressVPN and after some internal research, we came up with a solution that works great for most people, but there are some notable exceptions. In this article, we'll cover how to set it up on multiple devices. The most common scenario is dual-device simultaneous users. What we're talking about here are VPN services that don't require logins and that can be launched right away when a device is turned on.

How do you configure ExpressVPN with two devices simultaneously? Let's start with connecting one device. First you need to download the app on the desired device. Download ExpressVPN for your PC or iOS. This article is focused on desktop devices, but the app is cross-platform and it should work in almost all devices.

Once the ExpressVPN is installed on your PC or iPhone, connect them to the same network to access the service and get a VPN address. This could be your home router (for private use) or any public Wi-Fi (for public use).

In the app settings, you will see the address of your VPN account. It will be something like this: 1234XXXXXXXXXX : 5185419398435. (where 1234 is your VPN account number, and 5185419398435 is the IP address). To connect two devices, open the ExpressVPN app again. Click Add. It will give you an error. Click Continue.

Then you will be able to input the 2nd device details. Enter 1234XXX as the account number of the second VPN service. Enter 5185419398435 as the IP address of the second VPN server. And then it will ask you to reconnect the first device to the new account. Follow the onscreen instructions and select the first device to reconnect. Your ExpressVPN account settings will be automatically shared between the two devices.

How do I connect my VPN to another device?

Connect to your VPN on both devices, sign in on both devices.

Now when you have both devices connected you should be able to see your home connection in the VPN apps you installed on both devices. Your home connection should be a separate IP address from the public internet IP address you will connect with on your phone.

If your using an app from the Play Store, it will show the IP address of the Play Store server in the VPN apps settings. When you connect to the Play Store server it will give you a connection via your home network or VPN. This will look like an external network connection.

Now if you want to access content on the Play Store that has restrictions, you will need to use the VPN in order to access the content. If you are not using an app from the Play Store, you will need to configure your device for a VPN connection. There are many ways to do this but most of them involve either Android Settings, OpenVPN, or DD-WRT.

To configure your device for a VPN connection, you can download and install one of these tools. Once you are connected to a VPN server, you will see a menu option called VPN. If you click on this, it will bring up a menu of VPN providers to connect to. Choose a provider that works with your ISP. Once you have chosen a VPN provider, you will need to choose a location for your VPN server. If you are on an iOS device, you will need to select either France, Germany, UK, or US as your location. This can be done by selecting a nearby location from your phone. For a Windows Phone, your options will be a nearby VPN location or a location in the United States.

Now that you have connected to your VPN server, you will see a menu option called VPN under your account. Select VPN and now you can browse the internet through the VPN connection.

How do I install ExpressVPN on a new device?

ExpressVPN works by installing a client on a new device, and the server is already set up to communicate with that client.

To get started, you'll need to download and install the ExpressVPN app on your new device, then find a public Wi-Fi hotspot and connect to the ExpressVPN app. Once you're connected, you'll need to log into your account. To do this, you'll need to input your username and password, then log in. You can either use the app's mobile version or its desktop version.

When you log in, you'll see a green bar that reads Connecting to ExpressVPN server. This is because it's not yet connected to the server. When you've finished logging in, the green bar will turn into a yellow one, which means it's connected. The very first step in downloading ExpressVPN for Windows is to sign up.

This provides you with free VPN-hosting for 3 days, but that's only for new users. If you want to keep your new account, you'll be asked to buy it.

The next step is to download the ExpressVPN Windows app. After opening the app, you'll be shown a big blue Download button. You can click this button and start downloading the app to your Windows PC.

You'll see two versions of the app, Windows and MacOS. Click the latter and the app will ask you to download the server files. It'll show a warning that you should only do this if you have an authorized account. I guess this means ExpressVPN gives its customers free access to their Windows servers. But you have to buy the app (or subscription) for the MacOS version.

Once you've downloaded ExpressVPN and installed it, you'll be asked whether you want to configure the connection or not. Click the settings button and you'll be asked about various options.

ExpressVPN has several server locations, so you need to select one of them. The other option is to connect by LAN (which means setting your local network adapter IP address as your VPN server). The latter is more complicated as you have to manually find out what IP address you want to assign to the VPN server. (I used a VPN router and assigned it manually.)

And when you're done configuring, you'll be asked to connect. Click the button and ExpressVPN will start working. When it finishes, you'll see a message saying that ExpressVPN has been successfully installed.

How do I download ExpressVPN for Linux? The ExpressVPN application is available for MacOS and Windows. It's the same for both platforms.

Once the app is opened, it'll take you to ExpressVPN dashboard. Click the ExpressVPN-Connect button. This opens a screen asking you to install the application.

Then you'll need to download the application. If you use Ubuntu, it's under /home/user/.
