What is the New York Stock Exchange at right now?

6 billion.

On May 6, the NYSE reported the first drop in share value since December 2026. According to one industry analyst, they think it's the right time to bail.

There are plenty of reasons, he says, why we may finally be exiting this trading action. The analyst, William O'Brien of O'Brien Research, says the NYSE is now an over-weighted bet on stocks in the technology space. He believes that many are simply being crowded out of existence by companies with their own market-cap-based valuation.

This idea of an artificially expanded NYSE ticker has been floating around since at least 2026. But, O'Brien notes that the NYSE didn't do anything about it then and we never had an official announcement.

The NYSE declined to comment for this story. O'Brien says the NYSE wanted to be more opaque back then because there was a risk of causing a sudden sell-off among the exchange's large institutional investors, when some of them realized that they could no longer see the market cap for NYSE-listed stocks in the same way as they could before.

The NYSE's market cap can have big implications for how quickly and easily investors can get shares of listed firms, in general, even if some firms aren't listed in the same category as Apple, Alphabet and the others. For example, a lot of tech companies outside the New York Stock Exchange have their shares traded on what's called the NASDAAnd according to The Economic Times, If NYSE was going to pull out, it may have done so in a way that left it with a much bigger role than it should have.

Can you walk in the New York Stock Exchange?

The answer is, of course you can; you just have to get used to seeing the words Tronix Corporation where you expected to see the name of your favorite sports team.

One of these days the NYSE may have an altcoin market that will dwarf what the Nasdaq has today. Or possibly it will have to start listing all cryptocurrencies, in addition to bitcoin, to stay competitive.

But for now Tronix's token TRX has taken over the US stock exchange and Nasdaq in recent weeks. It is no secret that a large cryptocurrency platform with billions of dollars under management is going to attract a lot of interest. But it's hard to imagine that it would be anything less than the most significant altcoin of this year.

A company called Tronix, which develops software that helps companies operate digital assets such as tokens that can be traded on exchanges, was founded in 2026 by Justin Sun, a self-proclaimed Bitcoin maximalist and founder of the hugely successful token generation event (TGE) known as the Token Generation Event, or a TGE. For him this latest round of financing will enable him to further expand his platform, which has more than 600 employees spread across three offices. He estimates that its revenue at this point comes from transaction fees and transaction volume.

Tronix's mission is more than just a platform and business model. In a new white paper it argues that one of its main purposes is to accelerate innovation by helping users discover, explore and invest in the next generation of technologies, applications and infrastructure.

At the heart of this approach is something known as a blockchain and something else called its virtual machine (VM). These are both concepts well-known industry circles and, along with other technology, are often considered part of a modern day's Internet of things.
