How do I change my VPN settings?

With a VPN connection, your computer's default gateway is no longer available.

It's always best to change your default gateway back to the VPN server.

To do this, select "Network and Sharing Center" from your Start Menu, right-click on your network adapter in the list, and then select "Properties". Click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and set it to the VPN server you want to use.

This only changes the default gateway for Internet connections. To change your local network settings, right-click on your computer and select "Properties". Click on "Windows Firewall", and make sure that the "Programs & Features" option is selected. Now select "Allow programs and features" and "Turn Windows features on or off". For this tutorial, we recommend disabling Windows Firewall, so that only the VPN program will be allowed through.

How do I change my IP address? When you install a VPN connection, the VPN will automatically configure an IP address. This is normally an internal address, which allows your computer to communicate with other computers on the network without interference from the external network.

For the following instructions, we assume that your IP address is already set to 10.10, but if it's not, then just type the IP address you would like to use in the box provided.

Open the Windows Explorer and find the location of the IP address file. Right-click on the folder, and select "Open in Windows Explorer". This will open a new Windows Explorer window with the IP address file.

Select the folder that contains the IP address file, and click "Rename". Give the file a new name, and then click "OK" to confirm.

Now you can rename the folder back to "IP address", and you will now have the correct IP address for your computer. Note: If you need to use the IP address from a different network, just use the web-based tool to change the IP address. If you are unable to change the IP address, you can usually only do this with special software, or from the website of the ISP that provides you with your IP address.
