How do I turn up the microphone on my MacBook Air?
I have an 11 inch MacBook Air that I use as a second machine. I use Skype for the phone. I like the sound quality on Skype and it is easy to set up on Mac.
I would like to turn up the mic level but I can't seem to figure out how. So I have not been able to figure out how to turn up the mic volume. Any suggestions? My apologies if this has been answered before but I have been searching and cannot seem to find a solution. Best regards. Jeff. If you're using OS X Lion (10.7) or later, go to System Preferences and click on "Sound". You'll see the microphone volume slider. Move it up or down as you please.
If you're using OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), it's slightly different, but you can still move the slider to adjust the volume.
In Snow Leopard go to Sound Preferences and change the Input to something other than the default. In Snow Leopard you should go to the Sound Preferences and then choose the Input tab and change it from the default.
What is the microphone icon on my MacBook Air?
What does the microphone icon (on/off) do? What does it mean to turn the microphone off. The "Mic" is the built-in microphone in your MacBook Air. It's used for capturing video, Skype calls, and other voice-over communications. (It's also used for recording any non-voice information being captured with a microphone.) You can listen to what's captured with the Mic via the included sound output applet called "Sound" (or something similar).
It sounds like you'll be happy if it's on. Just remember to keep it away from people while it's on!
