Can someone track my location with my phone number?
I recently got a new cell phone with a tracking feature on it.
I had heard that if someone wanted to track your location with your phone number they would be able to do it. Is this true?
I have no idea where I am at this point, and I don't really care to know. The number is not tied to the phone. If you use it on another phone or sim card, it will still show you where you are. If you use it on a phone that is connected to a tower, you can get an exact location.
A number is a unique identifier, like an email address. So yes, it could be used to track your location if you allow it.
Of course, you can also use a non-unique identifier like your name, your birthday, or your current location to track you.
Can you see someone's Location History on Google Maps?
I need to build a website where users can view their friends location history on Google maps.
I have searched for this information but I have not found any.
Is there any way to retrieve the users location history? I think you want the getCurrentPosition() API. The method works as follows: Get the user's current location from the device's GPS receiver. If a valid location is not available, a "no location available" error is returned. Note: The returned location is an approximation of the user's location. For more precise positioning, use the LocationClient class.
