How do I get a VPN certificate file?

I am not sure what the file extension of a VPN certificate is. I was working on VPN certificates when I came across this problem, and I don't know what to do.

This will create a certificate request for a certificate authority. The above command will create a certificate request for a certificate authority. Where is VPN certificate stored?

Where can I find OpenVPN certificate?

I have OpenVPN server running on my Raspberry Pi (raspbian jessie). I can connect to it directly from my laptop and also from my tablet. I am trying to install the client on my HTC One S, I can connect to the VPN but I cannot get the certificate to show up in the "VPN" section of the settings. I have tried reinstalling OpenVPN several times, but I have not been successful.

I was able to get the certificate to show up in the settings on my tablet by going into the VPN settings and then selecting "Other" from the list. So I'm assuming that the certificate is somewhere in the system somewhere.

Are you able to see the certificate on the server? If so, can you do a "curl " and see if it gives you a certificate error, or if it just doesn't return anything?
