How do I deactivate a proxy server?
Or at least find which proxy servers are active?
If the firewall needs to be bypassed, what ports should be opened? I've tried to use tcpview on the offending machine to check if this is true, but this program requires root and I'm not allowed root access. Use wicd-curses to connect to an arbitrary network interface with WAN-IP on the desired subnet. Then, try to manually disconnect the NIC/WAN-IP interface from any network gateway and see if there's a proxy connection to the LAN. You might have issues with the IP configuration in your DHCPd if you're doing that too.
How do I completely remove proxy settings?
I have a problem with Windows Defender / AntiSpyware not allowing any programs to connect outside the local network.
For example: Internet Explorer (which has been removed), Firefox and Word/Excel, as well as all apps running in background can't use them either - just because of their proxy settings. What would be the best way to completely remove this setting. Please help!
For those who need the details: My work uses Windows 10 Enterprise and its anti-virus / firewall was configured to block all programs. Everything worked as usual for some time. Today I opened my PC and Internet Explorer, FireFox (I am a Firefox user) and Word/Excel didn't work anymore. The error screen that comes up is as below, so I tried to fix the issue, without success:
I googled around and found an article about a "proxy detection" option (which was enabled by default because of Windows update) which needs to be disabled in Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise for IE, FireFox, Word, Excel. After disabling it, it seems to work fine, but no matter what I do, Defender / AntiSpyware doesn't let me install new software. Even if I uninstall them. However, after uninstalling them, if I restart my PC, Defender / AntiSpyware still doesn't let me install new software. I get a message saying Defender / AntiSpyware must be stopped.
I checked under the Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Defender -> Status, where I realized Defender / AntiSpyware had been disabled, and couldn't stop anymore. However, I had to restart my PC to fix that, as I'd enabled it for the first time, then disabled it. As I said, when I restarted, I got the error message about Defender / AntiSpyware. I think something related to it.
I have a Lenovo Yoga 11s. Everything seems to work fine except for one point, which I will describe below: If you plug a USB flash drive, you won't be able to insert or remove it unless you reboot your machine. If you plug an external hard drive on another USB slot (USB3, USB 2.0 etc.), you won't be able to insert or remove it unless you reboot your machine.
How do I turn off proxy on Windows 10?
I've seen a few questions here on the forum about how to turn off proxy on Windows 10, but none of them worked for me.
I have Windows 10 Pro, and I just tried to use an extension that supposedly fixes the issue, but it didn't work.
In my case, the problem is that my computer seems to be using a proxy, because the websites are all showing the URL with the www, and not the normal URL with the which is what they should be showing. Is there any way to turn this off? Thanks! EDIT: I guess it works better when I say that the "Saving proxy settings." window keeps coming up every time I start Firefox, but it's blank when it's supposed to be blank.
EDIT 2: I found the "Turn off a network proxy" option in the Network & Internet window, but it doesn't seem to do anything. 1 Answer.
If your browser is complaining about the HTTP protocol when you access a website, it's probably using a proxy server. It's very unlikely to be set up by Windows itself. You might need to install a web proxy server or configure your web browser to use a different one.
Is it safe to disable proxy server?
I am having a website.
And I need to access it from outside, through a proxy server. So I put an iframe on my website and I can access it from outside. But the problem is, when I change the proxy server, the website is not available.
How to solve this problem? Is it safe to disable the proxy server when using an iframe? No, because the proxy will work on a domain level. You will have to change your code to access the website by passing the proxy information on the request headers.
