The Google Play store launched on the new Fire TV and Android TV platform last week, with more than 4,000 apps now available.

And even though Apple TV was already an option, that's clearly no longer a requirement for users looking to browse the Play storethough there is currently no support for iTunes purchases.

On the other hand, the fact that you need an app store built directly into the OS is really not an option for Amazon-made devices, and this has left users missing out on some features of this platform, including being able to download apps. Well, until now.

A new app named Mi Play Store (aka Mi App Store), from XDA member alberthui brings a solution. The app does exactly what you'd think it does: allows you to access the Play Store directly from your Mi Box with the help of the Mi Connect app. It does allow you to transfer existing Apps and data from the Google Play Store though.

Since you need the MI Box to be rooted, you'll need to follow this procedure: Connect the device via USB to the computer. Download the Mi App Store installer. Unzip the installer and run it (make sure to run as administrator). Wait until the installer quits after finishing to unplug the USB. Download the Mi App Store here: XDA Thread 1 Mi Connect app). A successful download with this method can be seen in the above image. I don't know why the above image had an error instead of a download.

I have tried all steps mentioned earlier, and when I plug my box, only the red triangle saying "not compatible" appear. Is there a way of installing apps without rooting it? or any ideas on the issue? Thanks Is this really needed for the Play store

I tried getting the Google play store working on my Mi box using a method (without rooting) found on XDA, it didn't work and I didn't have the Google Play store showing up anywhere. If it's supposed to be the Mi Play store will people really get it

What does it mean and what's the catch? One of the most prominent things Netflix needs to worry about right now, in recent months, in recent years has been piracy and Netflix's piracy problem.
