How do I stop my computer from blocking websites?
We all have a favorite way to stop the computer from doing things that drive us crazy, but when that way breaks down, we reach for our trusty old reliable fix: Windows Update.
There's only one thing that stops that though - a reboot, and the whole idea of that is starting to seem awfully outdated. So how do we go about keeping our computers free from the evils of Windows Update? In this guide we will cover a variety of methods including removing updates, preventing Windows 10 from showing an update warning, and disabling automatic updating altogether. If you need help keeping your Windows 10 computer up-to-date, then hopefully these methods will be enough to help.
Why I don't want Windows Update. I can hear you now, What do you mean keep it updated? All the latest software and software updates will keep me safe! Well it turns out that Windows 10 is built with malware in mind. When you update your OS, you are basically updating the operating system so it becomes infected with more virus's. These viruses are not malicious, they just download a tool for something and then use it, it's more like a spyware than a virus. The biggest worry for me however, is what happens to my files. With my PC being infected, my hard drive could be wiped clean, and it would not matter what operating system I had installed on the hard drive because I have no way of making it bootable. That means my data is forever gone.
This is why I do not want updates. You will be updating your OS once every six months. By my calculations, I update my machine about four times in that time frame. That's like getting hit with a nuclear warhead every week. For me, that's not acceptable.
The easiest solution, and what I am going to show you right now, is to disable Windows Update. How to disable Windows Update completely. First thing you want to do before continuing this guide, is to check if the Windows Update is set to search for and download updates option is ticked. It can be found in the bottom left corner of your Start Menu. This was checked by default for me. If you changed it, then you need to change it back. If you uncheck it, then you may run into problems.

How do I allow a website through my firewall Windows 11?
I use to allow websites through my firewall using the inbuilt Network Map that comes with Windows, but that has stopped working for me.
I've looked at the other options, which is to use an URL as mentioned by @TeeTime - is this safe? ? Thanks in advance. You don't have to allow them through your firewall. You just need to make sure that the sites you want to access are listed in the exceptions for your browser.
The URL you mention is not safe because it is easy to get the wrong site from your browser. Instead you can use the option "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" > "Inbound Rules" and add the URLs in this list.
