What works is the wireshark in Windows Live Essentials. I can download it and analyze data from the LAN. How about when we put our network card in monitor mode? Do we still have the ability to take a sniff?

We should have the ability to capture all the broadcast/inter-network packets. If we can capture these then the issue may be solved by changing the gateway to a new DNS address or disabling broadcast through the device manager. I'm not 100% sure if that would work. But it's worth trying.
