How do I open blocked sites on DNS?

How do I unblock a website without a VPN or proxy?

Is it possible to unblock a website without a VPN or proxy?

I'm in the UK and I'm trying to watch Netflix outside of the US. If I use the VPN I can do it, but if I unblock it I get a message saying I can't watch Netflix outside of the US.

I use the BBC app and it works fine, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong here and there's no option to unblock websites. It's just that I can watch BBC programs on the BBC app so I want to be able to watch all other videos I could find from sites like HBO and Netflix and not be restricted by the US. I understand I might not be able to watch Hulu but all I can find about Hulu is that it's still in beta, which is what led me to thinking maybe I can block it.

Hulu is in beta only for developers, the main website is still in development. I was looking at BBC iPlayer online and I couldn't watch any of it because it said I was out of the UK. I think I can't watch anything at all because of this. I can't watch any of the movies either.

So you can watch the videos in the USA but not the UK? I think you need a different VPN (ie US server). I'd recommend using a VPN to get around the geo-restrictions. You can use the free version of OpenVPN to connect to any of several servers across the globe, such as USA, UK, etc. If you want to stream Netflix from the US to the UK, for example, you can connect to a US server and then route your traffic through that VPN connection to a UK server to unblock the content. You'd need to change DNS servers to point at US ones, too, but I don't know whether that's possible using your router.

How do I open blocked sites on DNS?

There are lots of services to open websites blocked in China, but only two have won our support.

We give you the reasons for supporting each service and explain which service we prefer. The two services are:

VPN (virtual private network): A proxy tunnel that lets you route your internet traffic through the server. This can be helpful if you wish to browse blocked sites or have sensitive information send on email or post on your social media accounts. It means you have no access to the blocked sites, but you will still see the usual web content.

DNS (Domain Name System): Instead of searching for sites like Google or Facebook, you type the URL of the website into the address bar of your web browser. DNS then translates this URL into a web address. This service bypasses the restrictions and allows you to access any of the blocked websites.

I know both services are blocked in China, but I'd like to use them from time to time. What's my option? Use an unblocked proxy. Proxy servers in China usually block Chinese users by IP address, while VPNs can be routed through different servers depending on where you go. Because proxies don't block China's DNS servers, most of them don't block web sites.

Using a blocked proxy gives you one advantageyou can choose the location that you want to use. So if you don't live in Beijing, you can choose a location outside China to get around the country-wide ban on VPN.

VPNs route all their clients through the same server. If that server is banned, or it becomes unauthenticated, all of its clients become unauthenticated, too. Unauthenticated users can do whatever they want in the world wide web, just not the government-run websites.

If you choose a random free VPN service, it will tell you about the dangers of using it. To avoid trouble, you should use the best services: those that offer the fastest VPN speeds and provide the most security.

To find a good VPN, we recommend the following services that keep their servers outside China to prevent trouble. You can sign up for the 30-day free trial and use the services as much as you like. When you're finished, you simply remove the app's folder from your phone or delete the information saved on your mobile device.
