How do I get rid of blocked on school Chromebook?
I've been getting spam messages from my school Chromebook (ClamAV scan reports them as dangerous) and no one on my end knows what to do about it. This is what happens: Chromebooks are locked. The only way to log in is via a guest account.
The spam messages appear when I'm logged in as guest, but never when I log in as a normal user. If I log into Chrome as a normal user, it says "this browser is too dangerous to use" and I need to update the OS or "delete" Chrome and do a clean install. I'd like to stop getting the spam messages because I don't want to have to reinstall everything and can't be sure that the "delete Chrome" thing will actually work. I also can't tell if the spamming will continue.
The thing to keep in mind is that the only reason these warnings appear is because you're running a potentially vulnerable version of Chrome and/or you don't have the latest updates installed. If you want to make sure you're completely safe from these threats, then you need to update your OS, software and firmware.
When you see this message, you must be either running an unsupported version of Chrome or you have an outdated version of Google Chrome. Google Chrome is continuously updating and fixing issues and vulnerabilities. Currently, the most current version is 62. You should update your Google Chrome to the latest version.
This will remove any currently reported vulnerabilities and the security warning should be removed. I'm not sure what I need to update, but I tried both the commandline and the settings manager. Neither fixed the problem.
Do you have any idea what the spam is about? I would really appreciate it. The only way to get rid of blocked on school Chromebook is to update Chrome. First, open the terminal, and run. Sudo apt-get update. Second, type: sudo apt-get upgrade. Next, after it finishes, click on Settings Manager. There, you can click on Updates and Security and select Automatic Upgrades. Finally, restart your computer and see if you can get rid of your blocked message.
How do I turn off school restrictions on chrome?
I am getting ready to buy my first computer, and I want it to be able to run chrome.
I have heard that some schools block it due to school software, but how do I turn off those restrictions? I am not a programmer, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have a mac, so that's not an issue.
Also, I know you can use chromium instead, but I was hoping for something a little more stable than chromium (which has issues with flash for instance). There is a solution, but you'd have to pay someone to make it work. You'd need to use a tool called "Fusion" to make this work. You'd need to get the Fusion CD from them, and they'd tell you how to get it to work. The process is fairly simple, and it's not complicated at all.
The other option would be to have a friend who is a programmer make the solution for you. I don't know if this is an option for you or not, but you could try looking into that.
MacBook Pro 5,2 Core 2 Duo. If you buy it from the store, then your options are either to go with a factory version or a "developer version". If you are buying it from the store, then you can go with the factory version. The only thing I would recommend is to buy it from a store that will install it for you. This will ensure that they do not screw it up.
Thanks for the quick response. I think I will go with the factory version because it doesn't cost as much as the developer version.
