Can you reverse image search on iPhone?

How do I Search Google using a picture in iPhone?

I'm very new to iPhone development, and I was wondering if I could use Google Image Search functionality of the default web browser (or Safari) on my iPhone to search and display image of an item that's in the URL. Example is, I'm using the web browser to go to and when I want to search for a book on Amazon, I can do it easily from Google Book Search and enter: "name of book" into the search box.

I'd really like to be able to do this inside an iPhone app, by entering (for example) pictures of "a person". After searching for this picture of this person (and I would use the same name as I would search Amazon), then the application should display their name. How can this be done?
Please let me know any links or things you think will be helpful to research this type of problem. Thank you.

Thanks. Michael. You have to use iOS 4.1 for full-Screen search and it will come free on all new 3GS's If you are having problems installing SDK's here's how to get it working! Using NSURL did not work for me and I also tried the code on JotPad and it didn't work for me. But NSString did work so I have a feeling that the problem was in the way I was querying with NSURL. So for others looking for answers, you may need to try NSString's stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding method. Also remember that search methods are case sensitive.

Can you reverse image search on iPhone?

A user posted the following comment about using the web based tool to see an image of a product: "It was fun and I am surprised at how much you can get from a pic of a bottle. I used this and discovered that we need a new bottle for a popular drink which will be in stores later this month."

I have no idea what he is talking about since I never used it. If anyone else has, please share your experience with me. Thanks!

Re: Can you reverse image search on iPhone? Thanks to all for the suggestions. Here's what I found. All images that I wanted to remove were removed. If I find any hidden files or folders (in case they are deleted from photo library) that may have been added through web, please let me know.

As mentioned in my original post, I downloaded an image from a camera via Camera Roll, not through the web tool. I was using the web tool to try to locate an image that I thought was on my iPhone as part of a product page. When I uploaded the image (with a location in Safari) and clicked the "Use this Photo" button, the image did appear on my iPhone, but there was a note that there was also a hidden file with the name ".DSStore" within the "Camera Roll". When I looked inside the ".DSStore", I saw that the image I had been searching for was actually inside. I thought that if I didn't use the web tool to access the image, it wouldn't be uploaded.

The website "What The Web Can Find You". Www.whatthewebcanfindyou.com/ is worth checking out. I also found another website "Find My Photos" that is very good for finding images on a computer.findmyphotos.org.

Also, you may want to download ImageShack (free) software on your PC that allows you to easily download images from other users, such as www.imageshack.
