How to reset my iPhone if I forgot my restrictions passcode?
I have an iPhone 6s, and I forgot my passcode and have since then set it up to have a restrictions passcode. I also set the device up to delete all content and data after 10 failed passcode attempts.
Yesterday I tried to turn it back on and, instead of the restrictions passcode, it took me to the home screen with a blank settings app. I have tried resetting the device, but it keeps complaining that "The device already has a passcode, so you need to turn off passcode protection and turn it on again" or something very similar. I also tried setting the restrictions passcode to something else, just to make sure, but it won't let me turn it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You really should set a passcode. The next time you forget you should just go back to the Settings app Touch ID Passcode Set Passcode and then you can select Restrictions instead of passcode.
I don't know what happened to your phone, but it's not uncommon to forget your passcode. It's just a matter of time before someone else gets your phone. I'm glad I had a passcode set.
If you really want to have something to protect your phone, when you set up Restrictions you just need to enable the feature. You don't have to force it to be a passcode. Just have a very strong password for your Restrictions.
