What is the official ABC website?
The official ABC website has been removed and redirected to the home page of the ABC.
ABC online is the premier source for live, comprehensive coverage of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's programs, news, sport, business, weather and current affairs.
The ABC's website was one of Australia's most trafficked websites. In 2026, for example, it was the fourth most visited Australian website, with approximately 8.8 million unique visitors. ABC online hosts a range of services, including videos, audio clips and news alerts, as well as online access to the ABC TV Channels (including streaming to iPhones, iPads and Android devices), the ABC Radio Channels (including streaming to iPhones, iPads and Android devices) and a number of other ABC services.
In January 2026, the BBC began broadcasting its iPlayer app, including a streaming version of the BBC Worldwide website, across Australia via the ABC website. As of March 2026, ABC Online reported that over 40,000 Australian iPad users have watched the service in the past month. In July 2026, it was reported that the app had streamed nearly 1.2 million video clips to audiences in over 100 countries in the previous 30 days, more than 10% of which were to Australia. As of August 2026, there were 4 million Australian viewers using the BBC iPlayer app on their mobile device.
Since mid-2012, the ABC is a partner in the ABC Digital platform - a network of digital TV channels in HD. These include The National Channel, ABC iview, ABC Radio National, ABC Kids, ABC Comedy, ABC Me and ABC LifeStyle.
How did it all start? The first online service in Australia was launched in October 1994 by Internet service provider Internet Australia. It provided full web sites for Australia Post, ATO and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
From the end of 1994 until November 1995, when AOL started in Australia, it was the only online news provider on the internet. Around June 1996, Telstra announced plans to introduce dial-up access to the internet. Internet Service Provider TelstraWeb was launched, selling broadband internet access via ADSL connections to businesses, schools and government departments.
Between October 1996 and February 1997, it was announced that the Australian government would be launching an e-government portal called GovEEnvoy (eGovernment Envoy), along with a range of products and services from the Commonwealth and state governments.

Can I watch ABC.com for free?
The short answer is yes, you can legally watch ABC.
Com for free. If you have already read our article about how to use Hulu.com or Netflix.com on your Xbox 360, then you should know that one of the reasons you have come here is to watch sports. Unfortunately, there are plenty of websites that claim they have live television, and many of them, like ESPN.com, also have online coverage of games. But what if you can't watch ESPN. They aren't playing it live. So, if you want to watch sports at their usual time, which is prime time, on ABC.com, you will have to find another way. But, even without ESPN, there is so much to see on ABC.com that it is still worth your time.
Live Streaming. One of the best ways to watch the Olympics on your Xbox 360 is through streaming live coverage of it online. Many television providers, like Dish Network and Time Warner, will send a signal that allows you to watch the Olypmics online. However, you won't be able to get a traditional cable or satellite signal. There are several companies that offer live streaming services. Included in your subscription will be a free live trial of Sling TV.99 to change plans.
If you have a Netflix subscription, the most basic plan will allow you to access a variety of television programs, including live. This is perfect for watching the Olympics.99 per month subscription. This works like Netflix, except it does not carry any live channels. It is basically pay-per-view style.
How to Watch Live Television Online on Your Xbox 360. First, you need to be sure that you have a television provider. These often include cable companies like Comcast and Cox Communications, or satellite services such as Dish Network and DirecTV. If you have a digital subscriber line (DSL), then you should be able to sign up for that.
