Why can't I cast Netflix to my TV anymore?
I have a Roku 3 to which I've attached an external hard drive as well as a Fire TV stick.
I also downloaded some Netflix content using the Amazon app from my Android tablet, which also connects wirelessly to my wi-fi router and internet connection.
My Roku is set up as the primary device to watch Netflix from my tv screen. I use a laptop computer when I want to browse the Internet, so why can't I do the same to watch Netflix on my tv screen, without disconnecting my Roku? You can do that, but it requires one of two things. If you want the full streaming experience like you get on a normal computer or TV, you need to use an application on your computer to convert Netflix streams into the format Roku receives it in. The other option is that your computer needs an ethernet port. That will work just fine as long as you are connected to your router via wifi.e. If you do not have an ethernet connection on your computer, then there is no way for Netflix to stream it to your Roku if you can't connect to your router via wifi.e. There are some apps that allow you to hook up to your ethernet cable in the computer, but if you are looking to do the same thing as on a normal computer, then I think the better solution is to just get an ethernet cord.
Just remember though, as I said before, that this all is based on an existing Netflix account. If you don't have a Netflix account, then you won't be able to use Netflix this way. You will have to have a Netflix account and you will not be able to access Netflix's streaming website from your computer, tablet, or phone to enable this. So, even if you could set up everything as I described above, it would be pointless because you wouldn't be able to access Netflix from any other devices.
Why is there no cast button on my Netflix?
When you set up your Netflix account, it asks you which device you'd like to use with the service.
Once you decide what device you want to use, it says Save and creates an account for you. This is pretty simple, right? Wrong!
Netflix saves your account settings to your Netflix application on your smart TV. Your new device automatically has an already-created account (assuming it's one of the supported devices in their list). So, even though you've set up a new Netflix account, you won't be able to actually view anything. It won't let you into the content area of the Netflix app until you sign in with your login info on your old device that created your account.
If you want to watch TV shows and movies from your Netflix account using your Apple TV or Roku 3, sign into your Apple TV or Roku 3 account on Netflix.com. Click Watch Instantly under your chosen device. Enter your login information to watch any of the titles available to you.
After you watch the title on your Apple TV or Roku, Netflix shows you its own version of the video content, which differs from what you saw on Netflix. So if you watch a title from your Apple TV or Roku, then see yourself on Netflix, chances are it's not actually from Netflix. The streaming service makes this clear in its support article.
You may get frustrated about this and forget about the problem. Here's the thing though: It really does sound silly. A video streaming service should make it super easy for you to jump into their system and start watching. You should be able to cast from Netflix onto your TV and have it play on that TV instantly! And not have to bother with a cast button.
Instead, you spend more time navigating Netflix trying to find what you want, and less time watching what you want. Netflix won't let me cast content from my Apple TV to my TV. Netflix has had trouble casting from its content on some platforms. First, it started having problems casting to Roku devices. When you create an account on Netflix.com, it creates a Roku account for you automatically. Once you're logged in, you should have an option to Cast your content to TV screens.
Why can't I watch Netflix on screen mirroring?
I have a LG 47LM650 TV and two Macs running OS X 10.
8. I have all the latest updates for both Macs. One of them is a MacBook Pro and the other is an iMac.
When I start Netflix on the iMac using mirroring (screen-to-screen) it works fine. When I watch on my MacBook Pro the video plays but the display is mirrored on the iMac's screen.
I have had the problem for over a year and tried uninstalling the Netflix app, rebooted again and nothing works. I even went into the Settings > General > Displays and uninstalled the NVIDIA display driver for the iMac.
Any suggestions? If you want to watch Netflix on your Mac, you can go to the Netflix site and download the Apple AirPlay app. It is a free download. It will allow you to stream Netflix to your TV with AirPlay. To do so, you need to get an HDMI cable to connect your TV to your Mac. You can use this cable to connect your Mac to a TV or other device.
You should also be able to watch Netflix on your TV. If you have an HDMI cable to connect your TV to your Mac, you should be able to watch Netflix on your TV.
Airplay isn't supported by Netflix on Mac at the moment. It's only supported by Apple TV and iPhone.
If you have an HDMI cable, you will be able to watch Netflix on your TV.
Can the Netflix app cast to TV?
When I installed the Netflix app on my LG G3, the option to cast to TV was not there.
In fact, it doesn't show up in the list of devices when I try to switch over to Google Cast mode.
In Google Cast mode, Netflix also doesn't show up in the devices list. I've tried the steps at How do I cast Netflix to my TV over HDMI? to no avail. I've done a full reboot, and checked to make sure that the Netflix app wasn't set to never receive updates. In fact, I thought the reason I didn't see the option to cast was that I was missing that, but I've even tried downloading the very latest Netflix app, but the option to cast to TV still doesn't appear.
The question that arises is if there's something in the settings that I'm missing, and maybe a trick to force the option to appear. If you've been following along, thanks for the tips and information!
