How do you set up a VPN?
We've seen a few questions lately on how to set up and use VPN on Android.
Today I'm going to show you exactly how to do that using OpenVPN. The first step is download and install the OpenVPN app on your phone.
Step 1 - Downloading and installing OpenVPN. If you haven't already installed OpenVPN app from the play store, it's time to do so. The app is a cross-platform app that works across most operating systems. While the primary purpose of the app is to let you connect to secure sites and proxies (both within the apps use as well as those on remote servers) it also acts as a VPN itself. This is good because it's able to connect to a VPN server without any special requirements that most other apps require. (Like being an Android device or running certain Android versions.)
For those of you new to this topic, I don't have any sort of fancy "how-to's" (yet) for how to set up a VPN on Android. Instead I'm going to cover everything there is to know in terms of how it works. We'll break it down to its bare bones so that you can understand what's going on.
What is VPN (Virtual Private Network)? A Virtual Private Network (VPN) creates a virtual private network tunnel from a public network (internet) through a "tunnel" to a secured private network. VPN networks are great for people who work from home or on remote networks or networks with access that is restricted. VPN networks also prevent someone from "sniffing" your network traffic (seeing all your internet activity) when connected to a public internet network. Instead they see their own network activity.
If you're familiar with the concept behind VPNs on other operating systems then you'll know what I'm talking about here. What makes VPNs work? VPNs work by encrypting all your network traffic before it leaves your mobile device. Before the encrypted data reaches it's destination the encrypted traffic is decrypted so the data is displayed correctly. If the information were to be intercepted or compromised it can't be read. Instead it would appear as nonsense to anyone looking at it.

How do I set up VPN on my TP-Link router?
I have TP-Link WR750, Windows XP 32bit, and I also download the TP-Link VPN Software. I followed the instructions given by TP-link to set up my connection. Now is there any VPN software or website that is available so I can use the service that they provided. To TP-Link router or should I use other VPN software. I tried to search a solution over the internet but found nothing useful except the answer given by M0rtens7 and the instructions to TP-Link. Please someone help me out. It's a shame, but no easy way. It looks that TP-link doesn't made any kind of guide or manual how to configure the server so it seems that they don't want to support their VPN software. (it's weird thing)
And that means you have to find your own solution. At least the user guide provided by TP-link doesn't work if it's in Russian so that's very hard to use.
If you think you can set up the VPN then firstly you have to know if this model of the TP-link has native IPv6 support or not. If not then I would suggest that you use an alternative software like OpenVPN. They provide guides for using on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems.
I also tried the settings on the tplink client but it didn't work for me so I tried VPNbook and it worked without any problems. You need to make sure that you select port 443. You can check the status of the port using command : netstat -anp google.com It's simple and takes 5mins or less for the test and only requires one command and a few minutes after you've started it and the settings are up you should be able to get the ping working.
