What is the difference between Redoc and Redocly?
Redoc and Redocly are both software packages used for document markup conversion, designed to automate the process of converting large numbers of documents into other formats such as PDF.

HTML - Hypertext Markup Language is a standard markup language that is used to structure documents. DOCX - OpenOffice XML format, which is a format that enables the use of OpenOffice programs in Microsoft Word. XPS - Open XML Paper Specification is a format used for electronic print and publishing. EML - Electronic mail format is a format used to represent electronic mail. MS Office - Microsoft Office is a collection of applications used for the creation, maintenance and presentation of documents. It contains word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and drawing applications.
Text Editor. While Redoc has no inbuilt text editor, Redocly does have one. Redocly provides basic text editing with the following features: Undo/Redo - It allows you to undo and redo any changes made in your document. Find and Replace - This feature will help you search and replace any occurrence of a string or word in your document. Text formatting - The software will allow you to select a section of the document and apply different fonts, colors, and sizes. Collaboration Tools. Redocly offers a collaboration tool that will help you collaborate with other people. This feature will enable you to open and edit the document from another computer.
What is the difference between Swagger and Redoc?
I was wondering what are the differences between the two tools.
Swagger is open-source, whereas Redoc is proprietary. They both seem to work in similar ways, however, I'm wondering if there is a strong reason why one would be considered preferable over the other.
Swagger is an open-source API documentation generator while Redoc is proprietary. You can read about their differences at: The main difference is that Swagger is written in Java, while Redoc is in PHP. However, it doesn't mean that you can't use both of them together.
Is Redocly open source?
I haven't been following Redocly for a while now, but I thought I'd drop in and say hi.
I have no affiliation with the project, just curious as to how it's doing.
Redocly is still running. The source code hasn't changed for about two years, at least as far as I can tell. I haven't kept up with it lately myself, but it seems to have a community of people actively maintaining it. Redocly itself is a wrapper around an old version of Docblox, which in turn is based on Lucene.
I don't know if Redocly was ever made open source, but it sure doesn't look like it. If they are willing to share their code and support, that's great. But it's just another project, and it's not really a huge project. I wonder if anyone would care to maintain it.
The good news is that the project seems to be getting a bit more attention lately. Redocly is one of the few packages I have seen a new release candidate for (2.1.0). And the author has put out a request for comments on the issues listed on the project wiki.e. That's the best thing I've seen in a long time.
I'm just curious if this project is still alive and if it's being worked on. I had a look around on github but couldn't find any information on the project except the fact it's a Lucene-based search tool. The homepage also gives no indication that this is a project in development. It looks like it is just abandoned.
You should definitely check it out again. The project is still there and even has quite a number of commits after a year. I also checked the issue tracker and the project seems to be very active since at least 2 years ago.
Redocly was originally intended as a drop in replacement for Lucene. There was a previous rewrite attempt that was never completed. Redocly is now working well as a Lucene-based search tool and is supported by it's creator.
It was always the case that Redocly was a wrapper around DocBlox. There were always issues with DocBlox (the original one that Lucene replaced) and Redocly was rewritten from scratch. Lucene was never intended to be a search tool - that was the purpose of DocBlox.
