I've been using Surfshark since January 2024.

How can I diagnose what's causing the problem? Here are some things to try: Disable and re-enable the VPN in your device. In your VPN settings, open your account and click on Check for VPN connections. Does the VPN server exist in the VPN settings? Does the VPN work if you're on the public internet? Here's how to identify the cause of the problem: Open your VPN settings. Open your router's firewall (if you have one) to allow access from external addresses. Open your VPN server settings. If your VPN doesn't work when you're on the public internet, then it's likely that your VPN settings are wrong.
Why does Surfshark think I'm offline?
I bought a Surfshark router and I have been using it for a few weeks.
A few days ago I was watching a movie on my tv at home when I noticed I was getting a warning from Surfshark that my online status was offline. It was at this time that I noticed a second router with the same address and Surfshark was warning me it was offline. I also noticed that my phone was showing that I was offline on the 3G.
So I disconnected both routers and started again. I have a wifi network (connected to the router now) and a 3G phone (with no internet connection). I can't surf on my phone and I am using Surfshark's mobile app.
Surfshark app says "Your WiFi or WAN connection is offline". I'm currently connected to my router wifi, so it's not that.
I have noticed that Surfshark is claiming I have a wifi connection which is incorrect. In my mobile app, it shows that I'm connected to my router and in my laptop it shows that I'm connected to my router as well.
I thought the fact that I had two routers was confusing Surfshark as to whether I was on the same network or not. But now that I've deleted the router and restarted everything, I'm confused as to why I am still getting the warning.
I have read several threads on this topic but none of the solutions have worked. Re: ? The problem is caused by your phone trying to access the internet via your router. Your router should have a built in firewall that prevents this. Unfortunately Surfshark is a third party device and doesn't have a firewall installed.
To confirm this - try to ping a website on your router while connected to the internet via your phone. It will say "Destination Host Unreachable" as your router is refusing the connection. You may be able to ping Google from your phone if you have no firewall on your router.
It sounds like your router is not configured to allow external connections. This is easy to resolve - it's probably something you've done during setup.
If your router is configured correctly then you should be able to connect to the internet from your phone.
