What is the Hide Me extension for Chrome?

Chrome's new Hide Me feature was released in early October, and is a fairly large change to the way we browse the web.

While it's a pretty big change, it's easy to understand what it's doing, and why it's doing it.

The good news is that it's easier than ever to block ads. And if you're not willing to block all of them, you can at least block most of them. There's really no reason not to make this your default option.

Here's how to disable Hide Me in Chrome: 1) Open the Google Chrome browser. 2) Click the menu icon (looks like a gear), then select Settings from the menu. 3) Click Show Advanced Settings from the bottom of the menu. 4) Click the Content settings option in the list on the left. 5) Click the Display tab, and scroll down to Ads. Click the Show advanced ad settings button.

6) Scroll down to the Hide Ads box, and select the Hide me when option. 7) Click the Refresh button in the bottom-left corner. Now when you open a new tab, it'll be blank, until you enter a website address in the address bar. You can then see that the first few pages load without any ads. And as you scroll through the page, you'll see that any ads you encounter are invisible.

This is a great tool if you're tired of ads. However, I'm often the opposite. I actually find that the sites that have the least amount of ads are some of the best places to get great information.

It's a lot better to avoid ads than to use this tool. And this is the other problem with this feature. It is much harder to block an ad than it is to block a cookie.

While there's no reason to block all of your cookies (or even most of them) unless you're trying to stop tracking, there is one case where you absolutely should block all of your cookies.

How do I hide a proxy in Google Chrome?

We know that Google Chrome has a built-in proxy feature that can be used to route all Internet traffic through a specific proxy server.

Let's examine how to use this feature.

Before we begin, we would like to mention that this method may not work with older versions of Chrome. Most importantly, Chrome is currently only supporting Windows 10 (not yet on macOS or Linux).

How to use a proxy in Google Chrome? Open Chrome. Click on the menu button () and choose More Tools > Extensions. Scroll down to the bottom of the window and click on the "Add" button. Enter your desired proxy in the "Name:" text box. After you've saved your preferences, you should be able to use any open browser tab and it will automatically switch to the requested proxy. You can use this setting up to six different browsers on your computer. It is possible to disable and re-enable proxy access with a single click.

More than one proxy server? If you're using multiple network connections, the proxy settings only take effect for the active connection. If you want Chrome to use a proxy server for both connections, then you'll need to create two profiles: Click the menu button () and choose More Tools > Create new profile. After you've saved your preferences, you can access both profiles simultaneously with the same proxy server.
