What are the differences between Aloha POS and the POS that is already installed on your store? Aloha POS runs and stores your information locally on your computer's hard drive and not through the web-browser. All software installed on your system is completely separate from the POS software. This means that you can have a new POS and store software installed on your computer and they will function as separate entities.
How do I get the most out of my POS system? Aloha POS is designed to help you become more efficient with your computer and your inventory management. By taking a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the system you will be able to spend more time processing your business and less time searching for how to operate your software. With Aloha POS you will spend less time searching the Internet and more time processing your business. In addition, we have a quick-start guide that will take you through most of the features of our software and how to use them.
How do I refresh my Aloha POS?
Hi, I have been using the version of AlohaPOS 4.0b (a little later than 4.2), for a period of time now. I started using 4.1 because it came with an updated database and a set of new templates to use. The problem, is that this newest version seems to be incompatible to work on our existing computer system. I have done my homework and looked into all the different forums of people who had done what I am doing, but I must admit, after running so many versions of the program, I have gotten a little tired of all the information I find online when I begin searching for answers to the question I have. It would be really great if you would help me out so I don't waste hours of my time having to start from scratch with the new system if there is anyway we can get it work. All I want is to be able to print items as normal and be able to use the system as I was using before without the headache of trying to remember how to load files, edit databases, or even start a new program all the time. I just need to hit the print button and voila! Items are printed! I know there is some way to refresh my files in the back and if that doesn't work, I need to somehow change to the old version or find it somewhere on another server so I can download. I am very good with computers (although admittedly slower) than 90% of the public and do not mind typing files into the program, but when it gets to be more than 30 minutes, it takes an age to get files back and such from other web sites. Thanks in advance for any help you may give me. It does get through the page where I have typed the items but I don't want to save or change anything until I can find a fresh download, or figure out what the error means. This error came back as one of the errors I received during the download, so I guess that's good. There isn't any way to open up a new program or use the program in a limited mode is there?
I apologize if I am not getting in a format to your liking. If I am, I apologize again!
Is NCR still in business?
NCR (National Cash Register) was founded in 1886, and was the largest manufacturer of mechanical cash registers up until its demise in 1982. NCR is widely credited for inventing the first practical cash register. This credit began to be dispelled in the 1980s, however. The story of their decline is quite interesting, and I want to present that to you in detail.
NCR's decline. There were only two companies in the 1960s who had the ability to compete with the National Cash Register Corporation. One was Honeywell which manufactured products for IBM. The other was Fairchild, whose machines were built and sold by NCR under the name of the R-10. While the profits were fantastic, the quality of the products was poor.
It was a disaster for NCR's shareholders. In a typical public company, the board is expected to take out a loss, and the shareholders take a loss for their trouble.
But the NCR Board of Directors were unwilling to do so. After the disaster of the seventies, they realized that the future would not be as profitable as the past. The company was going through many changes, and it was necessary to make those changes at the level of executive management.
The first change was to sell off all assets outside of North America. In 1977 the business was split up in four parts.
The two remaining divisions were spun off into three separate companies, including one called NCR (which is the current company that you and I deal with). This new division was to be the new NCR's flagship product. Because of the failure of the R-10 division, their customers had lost confidence in NCR and would not buy a product from them. The market for cash registers had shifted so much that the traditional NCR sales techniques couldn't be made to work any more.
What is the phone number for NCR ATM support?
I have an error of 'No Such Attribute' when my account is trying to call up for a receipt and the balance is running out of credit.
If you can call up me I would be very thankful. I've even written into the bank and received no answer. I keep receiving 'No Such Attribute'. Thanking your in advance.
I just want to let you know, that you really saved my life - thank you for that. Unfortunately I had left my phone charger in the car on Wednesday and couldn't get back home because I couldn't afford one (that's how things worked out yesterday). However when I realised I had no money or access to my bank card I was freaking out! So after checking the NCR ATM and finding it didn't have much money in it I called the bank at around 5:30pm and told them what had happened. She told me that if I wanted I could withdraw money using the ATM and have that as a direct credit to my account (instead of waiting for the cheque book to arrive), so I drove back into town and went straight there. It was nice because no one was at the NCR ATM at that time of the day (which happens to be a lot during the week!
What made me even more fortunate was that I saw that they had lots of money in the NCR Bank Machine at the other bank (even though I didn't have a bank card at that time), so I was able to just walk into their branch and used their machines to withdraw some money and make a payment and it all looked really easy from inside. The funny part is that even though I used their machine - my card wasn't charged and I got my money out without problem. It's just lucky that everything worked out - even though I really needed some help, I had to go through that and it scared me! Anyway, thanks again for everything that you have done. Hi.e. If you do happen to read this, thank you. I needed to be able to withdraw the money that I had with me so I could continue with my day.
All I wanted to tell you is that everything worked out okay. Not to get all maudlin about it but there were a few moments where I thought "This isn't going to work. I won't be able to pay for my car insurance".
