Is it because people are using their own IP address instead of that of their ISP (ie, Comcast) or that people change their VPN settings? What if you don't have a Netflix account but subscribe for 2-3 months and use the free trial and cancel before a month is up? Is it still counted as having canceled your account? Here's my situation: I'm in an area where I can't pick my own ISP (Comcast). I signed up for Netflix as a part of my monthly payment, and didn't cancel my account until June 7.

When I moved, I had no choice in the matter, so I kept my account. However, I tried logging into Netflix on July 6th with an IP address from my new ISP (Verizon) and I got an error. It would not connect unless I used an IP from my old ISP, which would also not connect. This makes no sense to me, since they don't give you the same IP address from each ISP in each location, but I don't know enough about this to be certain. I just know that even using the same ISP's IP address, the first time you try it works fine, but any further attempts always fail.

It is possible I may have done something wrong when attempting to switch to Verizon, but I did not do anything, as I have nothing I need to access on their servers. I just wanted to verify that I am able to connect to Netflix at all, even using the same ISP's IP address.

The question of legality has been making headlines recently. It was revealed that Australia's major internet service providers are planning to block Netflix during school holidays and the Olympics. Is there anything that can be done about this? If yes, what do we need to do? What I'm asking is whether anyone's tried to use a VPN to unblock Netflix and if so, did it work? Do you need a VPN to unblock Netflix? Some people claim that it is illegal to use VPNs to unblock Netflix. The argument for why people claim this is wrong, is that VPN's work by routing your device through a server hundreds or thousands of kilometres away.
