How do you do private browsing on iPhone?
So there are two things I want to do.
One is to have a list of pages open that I can open and close, not save but close. This list may not have to be saved but it can't just be lost. Maybe in a day or two it will be too large to open and I can close it. The second thing is to just look at a site from home. I don't want it to be saved. This would be much faster if it were saved for a few weeks and then I could just look at the pages that I want to.
So how do I do this? Go to Safari -> Preferences (on iPhone) and click the Privacy tab on the top left. Go to the Private Browsing section. Click the button with the white arrow. The page that opens should be what you want to have private browsing for. Click OK to save.
When you open the list, you should see the sites you had open before you started private browsing. If you don't, click to close the list.
If you are a user of Windows 7 you can go to the bottom left of the screen to open the start menu. On the start menu, click on all programs. Once that is opened, click on internet explorer. Click run as administrator.
On that link, find the file and click open and select copy. Go back to the desktop and find the file you just copied. Once it is on the desktop, click on it.
A dialog box should pop up asking if you want to run iexplore.exe as administrator.
Click Yes. When the new window opens, click New window. Click OK to complete the action. Now when you go to the desktop, you should see an icon there. This is your new browser.
Is Safari private browser private?
If you're using Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, it's probably a good idea to set up an account with private browsing mode.
You can do so using iCloud Keychain or by creating a free account with a new browser, like Firefox. But is Safari truly private?
I'm a privacy-first kind of guy, and I like to think that you can't really find out too much about me in Safari.e. So I put together a quick experiment to try to get to the bottom of this. But let's first talk about what we mean by privacy.
What is Safari private browsing? What is private browsing? Private browsing mode in Safari is a feature that has been available for years, but for the first time last year, Apple started calling it Safari view. The term private browsing is a new feature in iOS 11. It lets you download a page to your desktop browser, then restore that session as a private browsing window that doesn't carry any history. It sounds exactly like a feature that would make sense on computers. But on iOS, it's a bit more complicated. Why?
If you've never used private browsing, the Safari feature that opens when you click the private browsing button offers no way to save what you're doing. Instead, it prompts you to return to the private browsing feature in a different tab on Safari or to send the current private browsing session to iMessage. (Just choose Send to iMessage from the bottom of the tab.) If you were to add a bookmark to that page, the private browsing window saves a file that makes it easier to open again later. If you haven't signed up for iCloud Keychain to save any passwords, you'll need to input them each time you enter the page.
But even if you're not going to visit that site later, it's still annoying to have to type a password. As it turns out, the password is saved in the Mac's Keychain. So if you sign into Safari with your Mac, you'll see the same password and will likely have to type it every time you open a new private browsing window.
