Is coffee grounds good for camellias?

Is coffee grounds good for camellias?

I planted a camellia last year and it looks like it is going to live.

I noticed a couple weeks ago that the top growth on it was starting to turn brown. I looked it over carefully and found a coffee bean on the ground underneath it. I dug around the area and didn't find any more beans. I assumed the camellia was still alive and just was getting ready to bloom.

Is it safe for the plant to continue to grow? I don't want to kill it or do anything that will harm it. Re: ? Camellias need high-nutrient, well-drained soil in order to thrive. Camellia plants are heavy feeders, so you can add a small amount of organic matter to the soil to add nutrients. If your camellia is heavy-feeding, you may need to apply a liquid fertilizer containing both nitrogen and phosphorus, such as 20-20, which can be applied as a foliar spray.

In addition to feeding camellia, it's important to provide them with good drainage. A soil that is too wet or heavy will allow roots to sit in soggy, poorly-draining soil, causing them to rot.

If you see a coffee bean under the camellia, the plant likely has root rot. I've had bad luck with coffee beans in the past, they have worked their way into my brain and I end up with anxiety attacks. I am looking for a spot for a new camellia and I am thinking of doing a bit of landscaping. How much coffee grounds should I add to the soil? What if I need to replace my soil to prevent any more coffee grounds from getting there?

How do you rejuvenate camellias?

The answer, of course, varies depending on which variety you want to look younger.

The Camellia seed catalogs list "C. Sasanqua," a beautiful and easy-to-grow form, as well as larger ones with deeper color, and there is no wrong choice each has its own individual character.

Seedlings usually emerge in the second year. Plant them in average, well-drained soil in a sheltered position with good air circulation, and at the same time water and fertilize them regularly. For protection against frost or light frosts, start seedlings outdoors under greenhouse cover or protected porch benches. The more mature they grow the harder they are, so be sure to start your seedlings small and transplant to a 5- to 10-foot raised bed when large enough. In our area we transplant camellias three times during their first five years.

Once you have four years of camellias under your belt, your plant will be large enough to transplant and is ready to start looking better than it did the year before. During the year of flower blossoms the plant needs full sun, six to eight hours of sun is needed in the first year. If growing in hot weather, it needs shade. Fertilize annually for flowers only never over-fertilize and never feed the plant if it has a buddle on it. In July the camellia begins to go dormant; this is its rest period. Once growth begins again after the first hard freeze, the leaves will change from dark green to dull brown. Mulch in early spring.

What is the best plant food for camellias?

I'm in a pickle. My mom said to mix up some plant food and add it to my cattleya pots. So here it is. The plant food I bought is called Nutra-Soot and is available on amazon.com. Can anyone tell me if this is good? If not what would you recommend instead of this or for other cattleyas? Any tips would be great, I'm stumped! Thanks for your help!

If you go for liquid products like this, make sure to get them from a reputable source and not from China. For most people this won't be an issue, but you never know when you'll get a contaminated batch. That's why the bottles can come with instructions for how to tell if the bottle has been opened. They do not want you wasting money.99/ bottle now? I am guessing that its something like Bonsai Liquid or a similar name. (it does have a little tree in the logo). This particular product says it is for 'all of your plants' as opposed to camellia only. They don't say anything about the nutritional content or anything in the fine print, so I wouldn't rely on their claims. I have seen a lot of people on TMC saying they don't believe this is good stuff. A bit surprised that there are so many members here who still order it, but the best thing to do is to test it before buying it.
