Why can't I see my child's device on Family Link?

What to do if parental control is not working?

My daughter's father and I have been in a serious fight about his control over our daughter for more than 6 months.

I finally put her in state-approved daycare (where she gets great care). The social worker said no issues - I am trying to come off my high horse. My daughter is so upset that she barely eats (at age 4) and cries all day. When I talk to her teachers, they agree with me, and the other kids love her and want to be around her. My husband and I are at odds since he refuses to believe anything negative about my child. Do you have any ideas on what to do next? I have done everything in my power to get this situation under control, but it is out of control.

Comments (9). Here are some ideas: 1) Get the kid away from him. He needs space to think this out.

2) Get another opinion. You can get a second, third or even fourth opinion on a doctor's visit. Your child may need multiple "expert" opinions to find the right balance.

3) Change schools. It can be a difficult move and a real emotional issue with your kid, especially if she's at the early age of two - but maybe she should attend school where she doesn't feel that this is all about her dad.

My daughter had similar problems because I'd say yes when he told me no, and then not give him any other option but yes. When he saw this, he became even more controlling and the conflict continues. A family member and I took a trip and left my daughter with my parents in the Midwest while we visited cousins in Arizona. We were away for 8 days and she was totally fine the whole time. She knows she loves them (but won't say that in front of her dad - and it is so important), but at this point I am willing to lose the battle to regain some kind of peace in her life. It might just be a temporary solution until she can cope with this constant chaos. I do not ever, EVER take back saying yes because it was a mistake. I have found I have a better relationship with her as a parent if I stick to the fact that I will listen, and sometimes a compromise must be made, but he does not need to get angry over a simple agreement.

Have you considered some alternative care? Or has he threatened to call CPS?

Why does Family Link not work on iPhone?

I'm having a few issues with Family Link on the iPhone.

I have a 2 year old (about to be 3) daughter, and I signed up for it for her. I installed it on my wife's iPhone, and we can add each other to Family Link with no issue.

But when I go to add her daughter, it doesn't work, and when I go to the help section it tells me it's an Apple app, not an iOS app. I've tried every combination I can think of, going into parental controls and selecting the app, and it's still not working. Is there something I'm missing This happened to me as well. It used to work fine on Android but then they started forcing Family Link onto iOS devices. The app is compatible with all iPhones and iPads, but as it turns out only when you're already connected to your iCloud account. If your phone is connected to iCloud and not your Google account, the app won't work. I have no idea why they decided to do this, but here's a simple workaround: just log out of your iCloud account first, then connect your phone to your Google account, then turn off/on Family Link. The app will work from then on.

Sorry this happened to you. This is a weird bug and it would be nice if they could fix it or at least tell me how to do it, but it looks like they don't know either.

I've been able to get it to work using the workaround above, but that's obviously not ideal. Since this is a bit out of date, I thought I'd post about it so that people aren't caught in the same situation I was.

I've never used their app before, so I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing with it, but I went through the process and followed their directions for adding accounts, which seems like it should work. I just tested this, and am getting the same error message. The device is connecting to my account and saying the family link needs to be turned on, but the "Turn On Family Link" button isn't even being shown. This is happening on my iPhone 5 and 6.

Thanks for responding, and sorry for the delay.

Why can't I see my child's device on Family Link?

I have an 8 month old daughter, and we set up Family Link when we registered for the Disney mobile app.

She has an Iphone 5S. We've connected with both devices through her devices (parent/child) but can't see each other in my account. Does she have to do anything special in order for me to be able to see her device? It seems like it's just supposed to be a phone call.

Is it possible that since my phone doesn't have any service we'll never be able to connect? We're using a family plan on it, but haven't paid the bill in ages. Would we be able to send a text to the other device to connect as long as were on the same service plan? We have Family Link, but our son isn't the type of child to use it. It won't let me know when he wants to go to bed at night (and it should), and even if I want to take a photo or video of him, it won't let me. The camera app just freezes. So, no Family Link for us right now.

What I did was to purchase AT&T prepaid cards. My son is 7 and will soon need access to his phone.

I went into a local Verizon store and was told that there's no way to add a child on a family plan so you would need to purchase separate accounts. When I called corporate they said that they would charge my regular bill for the child because the device was on Family Link.

If you've only used the Family Link function in My Disney Experience, there may still be a setting under "User Account Settings" that allows you to turn on "Send to All Users," which will let the other person on the account see the devices on the account. (I could certainly be wrong on this one, however.)

That is not true at all.
