The thing is I feel safe surfing through the internet and most of the other proxy servers, I can never really trust, for example I would have no idea whether they might start charging or recording my surfing and then sell the info. I don't know what the problem was, but I got answer for the "Why is the DNS resolution slow?" question. It seems to be a DNS cache problem. I'm on my Windows 7 PC, which is connected to my router, which is also connected to the internet. I made sure that I was using the router's DHCP and not manually assigning IPs, which may be the cause. It's possible the DNS server was slow to respond to requests and didn't refresh its cache of what DNS servers it should use. So maybe that's why the DNS resolution was slow, because it couldn't use any of the cache servers.

So, when I did set my PC to use a static IP, I had to manually set the DNS server IP in the TCP/IP settings to point to the same DNS server that my router used. This wasn't an option when I was using DHCP, since my router has no idea what IP address I'm using.

When I manually set the DNS server, DNS resolution became fast again. I can't say whether it's related to the proxy or not, but at least that's my experience.
