How do I share a VPN connection with another computer?

I have an Amazon VPC with two internet connections.

I want to share one of them with my laptop so I don't have to use my cellular data to surf the web. I found out that I could share a VPN connection by using the Network and Sharing Centre applet, but then I don't know how to setup the VPN connection in my PC.

Can someone please help me? To be clear, you can set up a VPN connection on your laptop just fine, but you will not be able to share that VPN connection with other computers. You can use multiple Internet connections through a virtual router, as long as each connection has an IP address assigned. If you connect your laptop to an ISP through an Ethernet cable, then you will need a switch. It's simple enough to setup a static IP address (on your computer) so that the only IP address assigned to your computer is that IP address.

I'll go ahead and assume that you have a static IP address on your computer, but you're connecting to a VPN. So, you're connecting through a gateway (this is the VPN connection), and then you have an IP address (again, your computer) that you are connecting to a website.

In this situation, you'll need to open up your firewall on your computer, and then either forward ports or allow traffic on your firewall. Here's a list of ports that you might want to open: UDP and TCP Port 443. UDP and TCP Port 80. UDP and TCP Port 110. TCP Port 25. UDP and TCP Port 5050. UDP and TCP Port 5353. UDP and TCP Port 60. If you're worried about blocking websites, you can use a proxy server. You could open your firewall and then run a proxy server that will open those ports for you, then route all requests through that proxy server. If you go that route, then you might as well use OpenVPN instead of a VPN. There are plenty of different proxies that work well. I've used Squid, but there are others.

However, if you just want to go with a VPN, then you'll have to manually configure your router to forward these ports.
