Do I need Mcafee if I have Surfshark?

Ok - I may be a little too new at this thing to understand.

My dad has had me install/run/upgrade Mcafee on his computer ever since he bought it. The last couple of times he's asked if I installed Surfshark and it's no. So he said he'll give it up, but the question remains - should I go back to Mcafee or is Surfshark good enough? I just can't get the feeling that it's good enough.

I had it on my PC for many years and never knew what it was doing. When they released McAfee Threat Fire, I was amazed at how much better it was at detecting problems. If you only have it installed on your PC, you won't be aware of problems. However, it is quite easy to install the program on your wife's or children's PC and monitor their downloads. Make sure you set the program to block dangerous downloads as well.

If you have surfshark, I'd recommend disabling McAfee and using only surfshark. I do think surfshark does a better job of protecting your PC than McAfee. It is more focused on blocking "bad stuff".

For your sake, you should not install anything on your wife's or children's PC, except maybe Firefox, but do make sure they use a decent, stable browser, IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari etc.
