How do I get past WiFi restrictions without VPN?
The WiFi restrictions on my network prevent me from connecting to the web, but once I set up a VPN it works fine.
I've got a good idea of what's going on, but can't figure out how to get past it.
We have several offices across the country and we all share the same WiFi access. The WiFi access is not shared between all users on the network; only a few users have their own password protected SSID (the WiFi name), which is connected to the LAN. We can all log onto the shared WiFi, but have to use a user ID/passport to log onto a private network. However, users who have their own SSIDs cannot connect to the private LAN.
How do I get past this? My boss says that I'm not allowed to set up a VPN without his approval, and I've been asked to find a solution. If someone has a clue, please let me know. Thanks! Answer:? I think your question is rather generic, and that you have not specified what kind of network you are dealing with. In a corporate network, where you have a physical access point (WAP) for the entire company that acts as the "gateway" to the internet, there is usually not a lot of concern about user authentication (you just provide the pass-words of users). In a home network, things are different. You don't want the "garden", so the access point can't be a WAP.
First, ask your ISP if you can get "injected" into the network (a WAP that allows the network access to external networks/devices - and can provide authentication of users), or if it is possible to provide a direct network connection. Second, you might want to contact the end-users and see if they would be interested in providing authentication (perhaps it is possible to add a local authentication server - like an AD - that authenticates the users and can provide access to the rest of the network). Third, perhaps your "private" network is limited in some way - and is not supposed to be connected to any other network (perhaps only computers with a specific MAC address are allowed to join, or only members of the "clique" need to be allowed to join).
How do I bypass restrictions on my router?
There is a list of the countries where some ISPs block traffic to sites like wikileaks. Or how do they force torrents
When using a torrent in Germany, as of August 2024, the IP address is blocked by the German police by default unless you have a VPN. So how would you get around this
As an option I guess, there are quite many services that you can use but some are only for US users, others only for Asian ones. Is it possible to get one that supports every countries? I also wonder about the IP address, what is this if there is not an ISP that makes that decision. Some sites for example can't tell me who's behind that IP address. And I guess there are countries that have their very own DNS which makes them really annoying to use at my place.
Thanks. I tried the "Socks5 proxy" with my public ip address, doesn't seem to work. It worked fine for me except for one thing - I was not the only user online (as I could see from the "bytes going down and down"). I also used several different servers all the same, eg 4-6 hours ago, so that couldn't be that either. I even changed the port I used to connect.
Now I'm trying to add other services, and here the problem is that I just can't get the required info (like IP etc. So yes - even with several proxies you will not be able to avoid traffic restrictions, since there is no way to find out what IP is assigned to what traffic (other than the VPN). So if you want a public IP, I'd say don't download those movies and music.
So it does not help if you are in a public place where a lot of people use your network (maybe at some business near you) or public WiFi.e. If the access provider allows IP address blocking this might work, so you have to check in which countries this is (I think it's rather the rule than the exception). But since the restriction is rather global (all in all) chances are high that there will be a way for an ISP to check every possible IP/source for any kind of possible bad intention (and that's exactly why there are laws that prohibit it and why you are protected by that).

How do I bypass restricted mode on WiFi?
I am using Windows 10 Home, and I have a wireless USB adapter that is working fine.
The adapter was supplied by my ISP, but I didn't buy it from them. The problem is that they put a "restricted mode" on the adapter.
This means that when the adapter is connected to my laptop, it won't connect to the WiFi.e. If I try to connect to it, it just keeps asking me for a password and won't connect.
If I use the Windows 10 mobile version of the adapter, the restricted mode problem goes away. So it's only the regular version that's having problems.
The adapter is a TP-LINK TL-WN722N, and it says it's a "WiFi Adapter" in the Device Manager. If you are using Windows 10 Home edition, you will not be able to connect to any public networks without being asked for a password. This is enforced by Microsoft, and not something that you can change on your own.
However, if you are using Windows 10 Pro, you will be able to connect to any public WiFi network without being asked for a password. So, there is no way to bypass this restriction? The only thing I can think of is to get a new adapter, but I can't find one that works with my laptop. Re: ?
