Does Netflix ever do promotions?

I've noticed that Netflix doesn't appear to ever do any kind of marketing promotion of theirs.

I thought they did it all the time until not even a month ago when they decided to "retool" their site and the only thing that kept me from completely canceling my subscription was that I haven't noticed anyone else talking about it. The only time I came close to unsubscribing was when someone had a free trial. How are other big names like Netflix and Hulu doing promotions? Do they ever make up for it in subscriptions gained? Do they pay for marketing or is it all out of their pocket?

Re: Netflix never does promotions? What "Netflix retooled"? That is just flat wrong and the way an overstressed consumer can tell there is a problem. Netflix has changed so many of its services that it is totally different. Now it is basically one price from what it used to be and a monthly option where you have to call to change the service.

I guess you had a bad experience with this (as I recall). That would also answer this question: if you sent an email for an unwanted upgrade, would the company read and respond? You are the same consumer who is complaining about a "retooled" website - how would a "retooled" site not change? There were/are other options on the old/new website. Maybe your email was never really received, like mine did, or maybe your service was never upgraded. This new website does a good job of letting you choose your plan, not making you choose one.

As far as your question about other services, they have their own promotions every time they have something to sell that isn't available online. Well, they're still giving people plenty of opportunities for discounts.just not marketing discounts.
