What do people use Signal for?

I have been reading the Signal blog recently.

They explain how Signal can help people: communicate in a way that makes it impossible for others to read what they're sending and receiving. I was interested to see that many people use it for the following things: Secret messages to lovers. Business messages to co-workers. Personal messages to the elderly. What is it? The 'secret message' feature is called an end-to-end encrypted conversation, or encrypted message, and it provides complete privacy on its own. What is the best app for private texting?

I'm thinking of a messaging app that lets me send messages with 1-4 other people at a time.

If I can get the messages back in a readable form (no emoji nonsense), I will be content. The idea is that there will be no way to guess who is who or if someone has read your message. I'd probably have a list of safe or favorite contacts to chat with.

How much traffic should I expect? I'm sure there's apps out there that will serve my purpose, but they just seem so expensive and complicated. Is it worth it? Your description of the app is accurate. The best app for private texting. No one gets your messages, unless you all choose to share them.

It's also the only app where my girlfriend and I have been able to communicate safely without fear of being spied on by friends, family or strangers. As long as everyone using the app knows and trusts each other, it's the safest form of private conversation. But that assumes all the parties are trustworthy, and that no one else is sneaking around.

Not much traffic at all. Just one other person. It could be done for a fraction of the cost of apps you mentioned. It's an app that I use for work with all my bosses/supervisors, and we actually use Google Hangouts and Skype a lot instead. I think the only advantage of a private texting app is the privacy features, as you don't want your boss to have access to your messages.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it. My biggest concern is that I can't see my replies before I send them. This seems like a privacy issue. That said, I'm willing to take my chances. But I am not willing to pay a ton of money.99 a month.

A few suggestions: 1) Consider a 2-person solution. That is, have 2 devices for yourself and another person.

No, you don't need to pay for a messaging app with voice calling. But, to use this free app correctly, you need to keep some things in mind. You can have up to five contacts on a line at a time and can have two concurrent calls on a line at a time. A call will count as a missed call even if you have the app. You can use push notification in both the apps, ie, it will tell you whether the phone is idle or not. If your phone says "Idle," it means that you are online. If the screen says "On Call," it means that you are on a call.

I would suggest that you go over your contact list and eliminate some numbers that you don't want to share, or they should only be called via text. You might also try the following changes, and they could help: Make sure that your contact list includes people who can receive messages quickly (like if you're dating someone). Never call somebody from the person's number! Always use a different number, even for your parents. Make sure that you've removed the number from caller ID and that you forward to voicemail when you call them. Make sure to use the correct dialer (the one that appears at the top of the screen) when dialing your contacts and it works better than what your phone uses. Also, while you're having some problems with your texting app, go to Settings --> Mobile network --> SIM card/Phone data services, and make sure that roaming is enabled. If not, then turn it on.
