How do I use VPN on my PC?

How do I get NordVPN to work on my PC?

So I've been running my PC on Kodi for some time now (my pc is very old and has been around since I got it in 2024, its a dual core P4). I tried to follow the tutorial given in the FAQ but it was too long so I figured it might be quicker if someone wrote one out.

I have all my files on a different hard drive as my old one is almost dead (the PSU blew after all these years so I figured I would give it a go). My main aim is to avoid having to install Kodi on a USB and use that instead. I downloaded the NordVPN software from the homepage, it installed perfectly.

Now I can access US Netflix (although it's not very speedy) and I can change DNS if I want to. I'm also told this is perfect for watching BBC iPlayer as it bypasses the blocking. I changed the DNS servers to "open" ones but still not working (I can visit www.bbc.uk just fine).

My question is, I can only get the NordVPN to work by using the NordVPN software. How do I get Kodi to work with it and how do I find the DNS servers? Ok so I found the solution thanks to help from another forum. The main things you need to do are: Make sure your IP is not blocked by certain countries. Open your Windows explorer. Select C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataRoamingNordVPNlogs. Locate the file named "lastDnsQuery". You can do this by going to your start menu > All programs > nordvpn > log file viewer.

Open this file, it will show you the DNS query info. Make sure you have the DNS query in the list of queries. If it's not the case then change it in the NordVPN application like so: Press options>connection>general. Then in DNS settings change it to "Open". After doing all that my BBC iPlayer (through VPN) and Netflix are working just fine on my computer.

The most common way is to install a Virtual Private Network (VPN) client that connects you directly to the destination. To set it up, follow the steps on the page I am currently waiting for the next version of it in which the commands will be integrated within the netgate-cli.exe application. One thing worth pointing out: the version is going to be 2.1.0 and it will contain additional features.

The next step that's worth mentioning is, once you've successfully connected to a given network the first time, you should see a dialog saying Are you sure? If you click Yes then nothing should happen and if you choose No then all your traffic for that network will be terminated. We now have no chance to connect to that network again. To avoid it, you need to go back to setting the network you want to connect to and simply click OK when you see the aforementioned popup.

What is a VPN client and how do I install one? There are two ways you can use a VPN software to allow you to route your web traffic. The first is to install a software (paid), that does the task for you while having the network software running in the background. We are going to talk about that in part 2. Today we'll install the software on a Windows system.

Install a VPN client. To begin the process let's head over to the homepage for OpenVPN. The first choice that will appear is the version. There is a green Download now button with a blue arrow underneath the name. Click it to download the latest Windows version that you can get from the website's homepage.

Once downloaded, install the new application. The new program will automatically search for the directory to put the installation files. So when the installer finishes downloading the files it will tell you so. It also provides a window where it will prompt you to create an account. Choose yes. You should end up here, and the installation process was successful.

Connect to that VPN. Head over to the settings window for the VPN software. You should now be able to manually add or connect networks on a per-app basis, just like you would with an open network. To do so, follow the next steps.

What's it all about?

We've reviewed NordVPN a while ago, and were impressed by their excellent service and nice features, but there are still some unanswered questions. For example, ? How well does it work on Windows and macOS? Will you be able to access the VPN while torrenting or streaming your favorite movie on Netflix? Is NordVPN good for a business VPN? And last but not least, are NordVPN servers fast enough for a good user experience? After all, your VPN connection needs to be rock-solid stable, and not that slow. In this article, we'll try to give you a comprehensive overview of the pros and cons of NordVPN for PC users, covering most of the topics above. NordVPN server locations and security. The NordVPN website states that you can find the servers in over 60 countries around the world. Most of these servers are based in Europe and North America, but there're also some in Asia and the Middle East. There are plenty of server locations in Asia, so let's just mention them in brief:

China: In the past, NordVPN has stated that they have a server in China and haven't updated it since. However, we do know that Baidu will set up more than 1000 servers in China.

India: The last time we looked at NordVPN, there was an Indian server, but since then, we have no idea where it is located. Russia: NordVPN has never had a server in Russia, but Russian ISPs block VPNs in the country, so NordVPN is likely to be unavailable. Canada: NordVPN has a Canadian server. US: They have a US server as well. We do not know exactly where it's located. It's possible that they have a server in California.

Switzerland: There's a Swiss server, but we don't know whether it's open to the public. Belgium: A Belgian server is available. France: A French server is also available. Poland: A Polish server is also available. Czech Republic: A Czech server is also available. Ireland: A server in Ireland is also available.
