Why is Safari saying my iPhone is not connected to the internet?
I'm using the Safari browser on my iPhone 5 to connect to a wifi network.
When I first open the browser, the internet connection on my iPhone was not working. I noticed the message that says 'not connected' right next to the WiFi toggle switch on the home screen. I tried this on my MacBook Pro as well and the same message appears. Any suggestions?
If you press the "more" button in the top right corner, it shows you all the icons in the top right menu bar. Pressing the "settings" button displays the setting page. On that page you can find "airplane mode". By selecting airplane mode, your phone will no longer be detected as a cell phone by your service provider, and therefore cannot connect to the phone network. It works well for me.
The first one only does one thing: it will check if the phone is connected or not. It does this by pressing a button, and thus doesn't show anything.
I have the same issue and it's getting annoying. It says "not connected" or "connected, but with no internet access" and when I select the wifi network it says connected but there is no internet. On my MacBook it shows the "mobile internet" symbol while my iPhone is on the wifi network but with no internet.
In order for it to really be connected to the internet, the mobile signal indicator has to turn yellow. The first picture below shows this, while the second one shows that there's no mobile data. I've taken the pictures using the wifi network in a coffee shop with 3G/4G coverage.
I can assure you that both of those are connected. When I'm not on the wifi network, the wifi light on the phone stays orange. On the MacBook, the indicator is orange when I'm not connected and yellow when I am. The problem I'm having with that particular network is that it only connects with 4G, and I only have 3G/LTE (LTE is only available in some areas in the US).
Why does my iPhone say Safari Cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server?
I recently updated my OS to the latest version of the software and can no longer access web pages through the Safari browser on my iPhone 5.
It just shows 'Safari Cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server'. This is very frustrating as I use this phone for work and the internet is critical. Please help!
2 Answers. Well, it's clear from your answers that there are two different issues going on here - you have a WiFi issue and an AT&T billing issue. Wifi.e. The first thing to consider is that although your router will have a wireless network, it could also be that the network itself is not configured properly. In the event that your router supports WPA/WPA2 (which you've said that you are using), you should check to see that the WPA password has not been changed. You can check if it's set to automatically connect and see if it's asking for the login credentials (or if it prompts at all). You can also confirm if your IP address is showing up in the Access Control settings. If it's not, check if DHCP is enabled. Make sure that DHCP is on and make sure that the range of IP addresses allocated to your network is large enough for all of your devices (and that the routers DHCP setting allows for more devices than are currently connected).
If the network isn't configured correctly, it might be causing your iPhone to think that it's not connecting properly to the router. AT&T Billing Issue. It is very possible that you are being billed incorrectly. If you still have service, you should go into the Settings app, select "General", and then select "Network" and choose the network you want to use. Select "Reset" from the list, and then follow the prompts. This is called deauthorizing your device, but any data it has stored locally will be backed up if you have iCloud installed. If you don't want to use iCloud, then this is the way to clear all your information. If you have AT&T and are using the "LTE Advanced" network, this method won't work as it requires the "LTE Advanced" network.
If you need more assistance, please post back with a description of your network or the results of the network setup. You could try doing a simple reboot and restart of your iPhone to reset the network settings.
How to fix Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost?
I've been using Safari on a Mac recently (OSX 10.11.4), and in the last couple of days I've been getting a lot of the following error messages:
Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost. Usually the page doesn't seem to load at all. I've searched online for similar problems, but haven't found anything specific for this version of Safari.e. Any ideas on how to fix it? I don't want to use Chrome, and I've never had these issues with Safari before. I'm having this problem as well. Can someone please help? I have tried unplugging and plugging back in the Ethernet cable and rebooting the computer but nothing works. I am unable to view certain pages like this one:
Hi, could this be related to you having an iCloud backup scheduled or pending? There's an error message displayed that says "this will take a few minutes" and once the backup is complete, it should be working fine again. This problem started when I did a fresh install of OS X Yosemite on my Macbook Pro (13-inch). Everything was working fine and I hadn't run into this problem with any other web sites. Now I have this issue with almost every site on the internet.
Why can't Safari open pages on iPhone?
I have several iPhone clients, all of which have "Safari can open pages on this iPhone" checked.
They can not open webpages on Safari.e. I have also set the "iPhone can open pages on this Mac" to "ONLY when plugged into a Mac" on all the Macs. If I manually turn the setting off, then reopen it, then turn it back on, Safari will open webpages without any problems on all my Mac clients. Any thoughts on why this would work on some clients and not others? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
In case anyone is still having this problem, I have had a similar issue and it turned out that there was an older version of safari already running on that system that caused the issues. The following worked for me: Go to "Safari > Show All Applications". Right click on a running instance of Safari and click "Quit". Start the new instance of safari.e. I don't remember whether it was after this or not, but I did close Safari as soon as I reopened it (as per your instructions). I can't remember if the other steps were necessary or not, but maybe one of them was.
