How do I install Netflix on my TV?

On your Xbox One, you can watch Netflix in two ways.

You can use the Xbox One Remote or you can download and install the Netflix app.

My TV's Netflix app is different than what I'm used to on my computer. I do have Netflix on my computer, but I'm not sure that's the right way to do it. If I get a Netflix subscription through the TV I won't lose my existing subscriptions? If I sign up through the TV how can I get my existing subscriptions?

Netflix has an app for computers, Roku devices and Android and iPhone. It doesn't have one for the Xbox or Sony TV, but they can be signed into your account. The Roku box app allows you to sign in and manage your account even if you don't have an active Netflix subscription on a computer.

@DaveSmith I've done that. I don't have an existing subscription that's saved when I sign in through my Roku box. How do I keep my current subscriptions? If they are not on the Roku I'll just cancel my subscription on the Roku and start afresh?

My understanding is that the Netflix experience on the tv is really targeted at those who already have an account set up on a computer (your home computer or perhaps a laptop you travel with). It appears that the most user friendly experience involves logging into your account on a computer and then streaming everything through that connection. When a user logs into their account, their content gets pushed down to the TV via WiFi.

If you want the experience of clicking through the Netflix sites and creating new profiles on your TV, then you will need to have that computer nearby. If your primary connection is through cable or satellite, then you may already have this setup. If this is not setup yet, then your best option may be to purchase a Roku device, setup a free Netflix account, and use the Roku as the connection between the computer and the TV. You could also consider getting a Netflix compatible TV that takes the place of the DVD player and simply stream movies from Netflix using the HDMI output to the TV. When you sign in, and if you are not signed in on a computer, you will get the option of setting up a local account or starting from scratch with your Netflix history.
