What happened to Surfshark VPN?

Why is Surfshark not working anymore?

Why does the Surfshark website say "Forbidden, sorry.

Please contact us via email", even when I'm logged in and have an account?

The Surfshark website says: Due to Google's latest updates, it is still not safe for surfers to be served with Surfshark's products, so please contact us at surfshark@gmail.com as we are able to offer a more secure alternative.

Well I sent emails from my @surfshark account, but I never got a reply. I just sent two email messages (again, @surfshark), but I got this error message back in return: I've tried uninstalling all the software, but this still doesn't work.

Why is my VPN not working in Turkey?

I am in Istanbul at the moment.

I set up my VPN with my Turkish ISP (WISeo), and it worked fine for about 10 days. When I restarted my PC, it didn't work anymore, and I checked online and it said that there was an IP blocking problem, so I turned off my VPN. This morning when I connected to the VPN it didn't work at all. I don't even have any connection error message. I just get a "Connection timed out" message. How can I fix this problem?

I have been using Freeview since May. The most recent channel line up is: Channel 4,5,6,7,11 and 12 (I think it is the same as all other regions). But, I have not been able to find anywhere to download the box of programmes for Freeview HD. Where are the files/channels from the Freeview HD box stored? Where do I download the channel line-up?

Freeview HD is now showing up in the freeview menu, on the second last list. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to work though. Is there any way to force a programme to be selected or to manually change channels using the onscreen options? I can only see one channel, the first one of the list. I've tried selecting the other one as well, but it just shows the same programme repeated over and over again. It's not working. It takes a lot of effort to update the TV receiver so I'm only playing catch-up, so I'm hoping there's some way to get around the issue. I've tried adding TV channels, but no success. When I select the channel, the receiver doesn't appear to see the channel at all, only the TV listings, not even a static image.

I am thinking of swapping over to using a USB stick to add TV channels, but I'd rather keep the receiver functional. When I look in my TV Guide it looks like it has the channel info for the US. So I'm wondering if there's some kind of setting that I have to flip to use UK stuff.

What happened to Surfshark VPN?

Why is Surfshark no longer available?

Can they be trusted? Let's investigate the truth behind what are they saying about the shutdown.

We have to admit, it's great news for them that a VPN was shut down in just two years. We were really expecting more than four years, that was a bit of a disappointment. Let's take a closer look at it all and answer questions like why did Surfshark close their business and what's Surfshark VPN hiding from us now?

Surfshark shut down business two years ago due to a hack. According to the official blog post, Surfshark closed it's doors on May 18th 2025 with the reason being a hacking attack, which lead to a failure in all platforms. What is also important is that Surfshark has been hacked for the past three months and didn't warn anyone for a period of time. The attack occurred in late 2025 and only got noticed by a number of users two years later.

Since then, Surfshark is doing the job of their users and working on making their product more safe and working properly again, which includes offering refunds if your service has been compromised. It's good they mentioned this as people can be afraid when their service stops working as a result of a hack. But they must be doing something wrong because even if one person gets a refund, thousands and thousands of people will have been paying for two years for something that isn't working.

According to their official statements, the hackers found a critical vulnerability in their system which led to the leak of user credentials and personal information. However, they are not willing to talk to specific numbers or details. One thing is for sure, however, the company is really looking into it and is trying to get all refunds as quickly as possible so every user can regain access to their service.

Is there more to it than we know about? Surfshark stated that it doesn't want to disclose too much details about it, as a result of this hack, they might have been breached. But it isn't clear if this is the whole story about the shutdown or if there's something else they aren't willing to tell us.

Can I use Surfshark in Turkey?

- Part 3

Today we continue our "Surfshark can I use?

" series. In this article we'll learn if it's safe to surf in Turkey, get all the information you need and find out how Surfshark users are getting some seriously bad customer service in our first follow-up post to yesterday's article.

First things first. Surfshark can't work here.right? Surfshark says no. Even their official website is not available from Turkey due to government regulation, but we've done some research to find out what exactly we're dealing with. A couple of days ago anonymous surfer contacted us through a private forum where we'd published the second part of this series, and told us that he surfs as a hobby and as far as he knows Surfshark has never released any hardware or software in Turkey, and we found out just how good the information is. A couple of days later we found out how exactly Surfshark plans on operating from Turkey, and after talking to a couple of people there we figured out that they're not a problem for the country.

What we learned from the Internet. As mentioned earlier Surfshark has very recently made an update to the TOS which states that the company will not deal with certain markets such as Turkey. But then, even within the TOS, nothing is said about it (you have to dig deeper and read every single word). The only way to truly find out is to contact them and find out for yourself.

When doing some more digging on the subject and reading everything we could find, we were met with different answers. The most common one is that "It's perfectly ok, if you pay attention and take into consideration all the restrictions Turkey may have in regards to your activity" In the end, what the internet told us is that Surfshark sells "VPN", "router" and "wireless" products. We were only able to verify the first of these, since Surfshark isn't licensed in Turkey, and according to the Turkish Ministry of Telecommunication, anyone offering a VPN in Turkey must be licensed.
