How old was Amanda Grayson when she died?
The answer to this question is probably the most important thing we can know about her.
If she died a few days after being born, then it is possible that she was as young as 3 weeks. If she was older, then we have the opportunity to learn more about her and how she lived.
She lived for just 24 hours, but this is a long time when you are a newborn baby. The cause of Amanda's death was not immediately apparent, which is common in such cases. What we do know is that she was born in March of 2026 at around 1:15 PM, and that she died less than 24 hours later, on March 25, 2026, at around 4:30 AM.
The day before she died, Amanda Grayson was brought into the hospital because she had not been eating or drinking for a few days. Her parents were told that she was just hungry and not responding to them.
The hospital workers decided to do an X-ray, which revealed that the baby had a fractured skull. A CT scan was performed, but the results were inconclusive, so a brain scan was ordered. This was performed, and it revealed that she had suffered from a blood clot in her brain.
Unfortunately, this was not enough information to determine the cause of the blood clot. In other words, the doctors were not able to say for sure what caused it.
What was happening at the time of her death? After the CT scan was performed, it was determined that Amanda was suffering from Shaken Baby Syndrome, also known as Non-Accidental Trauma (NAT). This occurs when a baby is shaken to death and the damage to the brain results in a blood clot.
The blood clot in Amanda's brain was detected around 1:30 AM on March 25. The CT scan revealed that the clot was in her right hemisphere of the brain, which is the side of the brain that controls speech, language, vision, and movement.
At around 4:30 AM, Amanda died. It was not until later that the cause of her death was determined to be Shaken Baby Syndrome.
In the days following her death, the family was informed that Amanda had suffered from a fractured skull, a blood clot in her brain, and Shaken Baby Syndrome.
Who plays Amanda Grayson in Discovery?
What about Mary Louise Parker or Jane Kaczmarek in that movie "The American"?
Or, as I thought when I was a kid and as many of you still must be thinking when you read this the last scene of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," where I see my mother sitting there with her arm flung out?
I don't have answers to these questions. But the person who has them has spent decades writing about and performing in film and on TV. And, of course, now at 98, she's still talking about it on television, over lunch, by the fire, in private rooms in movie theaters and hotel conference rooms and auditoriums.
Says Betty Ann Morrison (I know!): "I didn't want to talk to you. I knew you'd have me do some things. It won't happen." That's one way of putting it. But there's another: "You've all got the wrong number. This is Betty Ann. And that was a terrible mistake of the producers to have you call me here." There are always mistakes in the lives of artists.
I think most people who've been around show business for a while agree that Hollywood's best days are long over, and it's going to take a new generation to change things. Or maybe not. Who knows, and who cares? There may be more Hollywood stories left to tell. Like yours.
I remember you telling me years ago that your mother had given away most of the profits from "A Tree Grows" to the actors who played those characters. I couldn't recall if she herself played the mom. And I figured she just didn't want the money.
No, she never did play the mom. We talked about that later. It was one of those moments when I could almost hear you laughing, even though you weren't around to do that. But you were on that page. You had me remember that you were in one of those conversations long before they published anything in any newspaper or magazine or movie you might not have been mentioned by name but you were there, and for better or worse. And then that's how the story unfolded, through you, the storyteller.
I was happy to leave that story alone, and so was our interviewer, whom we'd finally located. She remembered everything.
