How do I block all internet access?

I have a wireless router/modem that connects to my cable modem and the internet.

I want to stop all internet access and use the modem only for a phone line. Is it possible to do that? Is it possible to stop all internet access (both wired and wireless) to my computer while leaving me the ability to connect to the phone line?

I know you can use a program called "Modify Network settings" and uncheck "Internet Connection Sharing" or something along those lines, but what about web browsing? Will I be able to use my computer as it normally would when it's not connected to the modem, or will it block the web browser? If it does block the web browser, is there a way to turn it back on, if necessary? If you have a PC and a wireless USB adapter, I would guess you can disable the wireless adapter and then run the ethernet cable from the PC to the router. Then you can't get online. That should work fine.

If you don't have that option, then try plugging the ethernet cable directly into the router. I was looking at the "block all internet access" option on my modems settings. Is there an easier way to do this? And by easier, I mean a "wizard" or "one click" method. Or is it as easy as turning the wifi on and off?

When you uncheck the box, you can still use your WiFi on your computer - so it's not really a problem. The best way to block internet access is to use your modem's configuration panel. For example, most models include either a phone or modem configuration page which allows you to create different profiles with passwords, time restrictions, etc. You just need to log in with the username/password associated with the profile.

This is the best way, in my opinion. It's also the safest, because it's less likely that someone will try and steal your login info.

For example, if you're using your computer for some kind of business use, create a restricted profile with only the minimum necessary information. Then, when you're finished for the day, lock the screen. And if you want to start working again the next day, you just log in.
