Can Proton VPN be trusted?

We are often asked whether ProtonVPN can be trusted or not.

You may find comments from people making claims that ProtonVPN has malicious software on it, including malware that is secretly installed on our servers which send your online activities to spies who collect and sell your information for profit. As a rule of thumb, we would suggest against using ProtonVPN if there is any doubt over trust.
