Can I use a free VPN to get around the Netflix Proxy error?

Are there any free VPNs out there that can let me use Netflix from outside of the US? I've looked around a bit and most of them seem to be either too slow, too expensive, or just won't work. I'm looking for something that's easy to install, fast, and reliable. I'm on Windows 8.1, but I can also get it to work on Linux if that's what I have to do.
