Is ExpressVPN still safe 2022?

Hi, first I would like to say I love this forum, a lot of great informative information. I'm trying to set up a VPN server for friends and I have a question that a lot of people in the past also had. Has ExpressVPN still safe? My old provider said they're gone, but I couldn't find any evidence that they are still available to anyone. Just wondering if I'm wasting my time if I decide to use the service. If the server is hacked, is it possible for the hacker to reach the outside world? Thanks.

You didn't make clear where you are located but ExpressVPN offers free VPN service to the residents of several countries around the globe. There's little reason not to give it a try. Yes, they are still going strong, the company has been bought by Private Internet Access (PIA). ExpressVPN still owns the core technology of the service. You can still host their service (they recommend paid cloud service) but the cost is pretty steep so if you're not planning on using them all the time it might be worth trying out first before spending serious money.

I would have to agree with others. If it is a local issue you may want to use a VPN solution that will work with your ISP. Otherwise, depending on what country you live in, most ISPs are not going to allow access outside of there IPs. Also, you might want to consider which type of server is best to help with the situation, but in general we have found that IPsec is the most suitable. Many clients now have open source solutions (like pptpd and opensips) that are easy to set up and configure. I found a great video on Youtube describing it as well. I'm going to search for the video.

And if there's a certain VPN with a list of US servers I will be happy to try that. However I'm stuck at the point now where, even with no other VPN apps running, I can only select 1 server from a single ISP. They have said to me 'if you're a Canadian customer you need to use the west coast servers'. I'm in the UK right now (although I'm also connected via the east coast USA). Could anyone advise, given the circumstances, if I can set up ExpressVPN as a VPN app and then connect over Netflix to an ISP US server? Or is there a better, alternative app I could try instead? Thanks! Please don't just say I'm getting a different US server!

ExpressVPN does work but it is not as good as CyberGhost for example. I've tested on 3 different VPNs, Express, VPN Unlimited and HideMyAss and they all have the same problem. No matter which location of the US Netflix servers you choose, whether it's 1, 2 or more, the US servers all become dead after a certain amount of time. The one thing you get with Express is that you do get a different IP address but you don't get the whole American experience. All the best for your VPN needs! Good luck!

@JT I'm new to this forum so please forgive me for anything wrong with my post. I was under the impression that I couldn't connect with my VPN as it was illegal. Does that mean I'm using a free VPN program like the ones listed above?

ExpressVPN did not support U. Netflix but they said to go with U. Servers even in a country with no U. Netflix servers like the UK. But we need to change the type of VPN client to PPTP. And then the servers can come with the country settings.

You're right that it should be noted that any VPN should be used with caution. That being said, some do it the wrong way. I won't give specifics, but I have seen many people that have used a VPN and made it look like the U. Version of Netflix when in fact they are not.
