How do I fix my Hulu proxy error?

In my last post, I talked about how I got Hulu working on Debian Jessie. I was using the official Hulu.com Firefox plugin. I was very happy with this setup, until one day I noticed that Hulu was no longer available on my computer. It asked me to use a proxy to access it.

How do I fix this problem? I went back to the Hulu.com website, and found a link to an article on the Hulu.com website titled How to Proxy Hulu.com on Linux. This article provided me with the exact steps I needed to make Hulu work. I followed the instructions, and this time Hulu did work. I was able to watch Hulu content without the unable to connect error.

The article that I linked to was written a few years ago, and the instructions are out of date. Hulu has since changed their streaming protocol, and many of the instructions in the article are no longer valid. I decided to write this article to provide a more up to date guide to getting Hulu working.
