How do I recover my old Apple ID and password?

I have used my former Apple ID (A-COD-5CX7B7) to purchase applications from the Mac App Store for over a year. I have never used iCloud or signed in on my iPad.

I recently lost my iPhone 5 and now can't sign into the App Store to download apps. I created a new Apple ID at another location (A2-Z0F9B5) to purchase an app, but was told my old account wouldn't let me download the app. I need my old Apple ID and password to get my purchase app transferred from one Apple ID to another and then I can start downloading. What do I need to do? How can I get the purchase app back for my new device that now has an entirely new Apple ID for signing into?

I tried to make this same request on Tuesday June 20th and received the following explanation: I had not bought anything with my former account for over a year. When I contacted support I was told that I needed to submit the "Forgot my password" form and that they would send a new password to the email address I provided at the time of registration. I received the email about the new password, but couldn't access the form to enter it. When I finally gave up after trying several times, I got a phone call telling me there was a technical issue to reset the password.

You can't see that information in the Settings app. You can, however, use the Find My iPhone app to determine which Apple ID your phone is currently using.

Apple's website is where you go to manage all of your Apple products.

There are many features to the website, but some of the more useful ones are the ability to check the health of your device, verify the Apple Serial Number, and view your current iCloud status. It's not just for your iPhone or iPad either, although they are the most common devices managed.

To open the Apple ID website on an iPad: Launch Safari and tap the location button in the top right corner. Search for the Apple ID website using the box at the top of the window and tap the entry that is created when it finds the site. If you're not seeing the website, you need to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, or you need to connect through cellular data.

The website then presents you with details about your Apple account and asks you to confirm your email address and other identity information. Once you have entered your information, you'll see your device information at the top of the page. The status section of the website gives you information about whether your device is currently signed into a secure iCloud account. You can change your email address on your Apple ID by going to the Apple ID account settings page, clicking "Manage my Apple ID" and then clicking the "Email Address" tab.

What if my Apple ID is locked? If you find yourself locked out of your Apple ID, you may be unable to log in to iTunes or the App Store and therefore unable to use it. To fix this, follow these steps: Go to the App Store. Select the name of an app that you wish to purchase. When you see the price of the app, tap the "Buy" button. On the next screen, tap the "Pay with Apple Pay" button. Choose a payment method (eg, credit card or Apple Pay), enter your payment information and then tap "Pay." The App Store will verify your payment information and then show your receipt. In the App Store, tap "My Purchases." Tap the "View Details" button. You'll see a link to "Log in to the App Store with your Apple ID." Click that link to log in to the App Store with your Apple ID.

If you've tried all of the steps above and still cannot access your Apple ID, you can call Apple Customer Care at 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-645-2130). What if I forget my password on my Apple ID? If you forgot your password on your Apple ID, you can't simply reset your password by going to the Apple ID account settings page, clicking "Manage my Apple ID" and then clicking the "Forgot my password" tab. You will need to go to the Apple Support website, click on "Forgot Password" and follow the instructions there.

What if I can't sign in to my Apple ID? If you can't sign in to your Apple ID, you may have a problem with your password.
