What is QA and QC difference?
Quality Assurance is about producing the highest quality product possible.
Quality Control is about monitoring the level of quality in the produced product. Quality Control can be done by anyone with experience, but Quality Assurance usually requires specific training and experience to do it properly.
The differences are that "Quality Control" is the practice of ensuring the production quality (ie to control a process) while "Quality Assurance" is the practice of ensuring that all steps in the process are done so that they will result in a product that meets expectations. QA is a part of QC, where as QC takes over part of QQA is meant to check the product quality before handing it over to QC who would further check it and would suggest changes if required.

I am in the process of developing and writing our first ISO QA tool and would like to know what your thoughts on the main objective of a Quality Management System are and why?
Compliance with applicable laws and regulations (ISO 22000). Customer satisfaction (ISO 9001). Quality is a competitive advantage. I have spent some time reading, but couldn't come up with an explanation for why this is the correct order. Do you believe that compliance will be one of the main objectives? There is no perfect order to choosing them (or the right order for your requirements), because it depends on your company and your industry. Generally, in a pharmaceutical company, the quality management system is the first step in the process of making sure that all required information is provided to the regulator, and that each process has been standardized to avoid errors in each step. For example, if you want to get approval for marketing of a drug, the quality management system is used as the framework which is followed as part of the process.
However, the most important objective for any QMS is compliance. A QMS should lead to a reduction in defects, deviations, recalls, etc. To achieve a high level of compliance, it must be clear to the entire organization what the goal of the QMS is, ie how the system was designed, as well as clearly defined what is expected to happen. It must include appropriate metrics and indicators that can be measured regularly by everyone in the organization.
Thanks for your reply. I think the problem is not so much with the order but I don't think the objective is one of those, more to do with the process of defining the objectives themselves.
The 3 key objectives have been chosen before we even knew the 3 objectives for a QMS and hence it has confused me from day 1. I am still yet to decide what they should be or what I should choose from the 3. So the lack of clarity for them in the literature hasn't helped, but it's still too early to say what exactly I should choose.
The thing I can identify though is the compliance section and that is quite important for us. We haven't started looking at the metrics yet but I guess the focus is more towards the process than to the end result.
