Can I install PIA VPN on Firestick?

Can I install PIA VPN on Firestick?

I would like to install PIA VPN on my Firestick, but I am unable to find out which firmware version of the Firestick supports this.

Can anyone help with this? There is a way to install PIA VPN using a customised bootstrap for the Firestick, and it's also not possible if you don't have at least the latest official update for the Firestick. You can get hold of a copy of the latest official update from their site by visiting the link below and entering the serial number found at the bottom of the screen, I have tried and it works, and a customised bootstrap will also mean that you get all the security updates through the standard firmware update mechanisms and it won't need any further support to stay updated to the latest release.

Why won t my firestick connect to VPN?

How do you connect to an open VPN server, when you live in a region which blocks OpenVPN servers?

This has happened to me before, where I live, yet in other regions, I could get perfectly fine OpenVPN servers to work. Can anyone shed some light on this? There must be something to do with being in Australia? Thanks. I managed to figure it out myself, but still cannot find any info on Google. So, at least I can help others and hopefully someone can point me to the correct information.

I have no clue why my FireStick connects to a "Private Network" that was not specified as private. Here's how I figure out what is going on. Connect the FireStick to my Ubuntu, run the VPN server. If the firewall is correctly setup (which I think it is, from what I can see) it will connect to the VPN automatically.

If it does not connect the way I expected, I will use wireshark to analyze the traffic and discover what the FireStick is doing. I had this problem and I needed something to speed up VPN connection on iOS devices. So what I did was adding some proxy server on the Android device. I configured VPN connections using the openvpn client. Then, installed squid-deb-proxy. To install the squid-deb-proxy go to this link. Install squid-deb-proxy by following these instructions . In my case, I ran apt-get install squid-deb-proxy. The installation is successful. Now, the vpn connected properly but the web apps like facebook were not working (I think they use HTTPS connection which required VPN). So, I wanted to bypass this.

So, I configure the proxy in /etc/sysctl.

Why is PIA VPN not connecting?

I'm having the same problem with PIA VPN and it does not work. I use the Windows XP Home edition on Toshiba R5L1E. I tried to install it again and my router still doesn't get connected to PIA VPN. I can still check if I'm online or not but it gives me errors when I try to connect to anything else. This happens only on my Toshiba. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Thanks in advance

I'm using PIA VPN with Pc-Anywhere on my LG C200 as a client and an IP-PC/LG C200 as a server and have no problems. I just thought it was a problem in Toshiba R5L1E as yours is not connecting.

PIA has a really, really dumb rule - they require you to use a "registered user" login to access their site. There's only one thing I like better about this rule: it's much easier to see whether the user logged in.

I'd say it's not dumb. If someone wants to run PIA without being tracked through their servers, they'll choose to log-in using a different account (or different IP) than the account you're used to.

As for your problems, I assume you have a NAT setup (NAT is an easy way to get multiple clients connected). This is almost certainly what's causing your problems: the port forwarding from server-side isn't happening. I don't know the PIA specifics, but I do know that port forwarding in Linux is done using iptables, and Windows has a separate configuration tool for it.

If you haven't bothered to look at the port forwarding options, then you'd know that if you just use the 'shared connection' feature then the connection will always be a "shared" connection, ie the connection between your client and the server will always be initiated using the same IP address and ports. This means that every client connects to PIA VPN using the same IP address and port, meaning that for some reason your Windows machine is still attempting to tunnel through the shared-port connection.
