What is canary version of Edge?

Does anyone know what is the canary version of edge?

It does not have support for new CSS properties such as :placeholder-shown, which is used for placeholder text in text fields. It does not support new features such as Media Queries, which is used to provide support for various device resolutions and densities. Can I delete Microsoft Edge?

Edge has been available in pre-release for a while now and I have to admit that it's a great browser to try out.

One of the things that makes Edge particularly unique is that it runs on Chromium. Even though Edge was not developed directly from Chromium, using Chromium as the engine was probably one of the best decisions Microsoft made for Edge.

Chromium is a fork of Google Chrome that runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and Chrome OS. The primary focus of this browser is to make development easy. It does this by providing all of the developer-friendly features that Chrome does, but it also provides some extra features of its own. Most notable are the new DevTools which includes the aforementioned Inspector, debugger, page console, profiler, timeline, network panel, and more.

It's interesting to see how the teams at each company differ in their approach to the web browser. Google's Chrome is far more open, flexible, and powerful than what Microsoft chose for Edge. In fact, when you're developing a site or application one browser you can run it on the other without any changes to the code. This means you can take the same website or application and preview it without a hitch on any device regardless of operating system. While Chromium is often praised for being relatively lightweight, it's really nothing more than a fork of Chrome, which means if you're running Edge you have Chrome running alongside.

I'm not opposed to Edge being built on Chromium. A fork isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if there are features that you want in Chrome and not on Edge. But Edge should be built from the ground up, using the Windows Kernel API to do so. With this approach Edge would be its own browser, and the Chromium part would just be a wrapper that provided common API calls. The good news is that this type of browser exists and has been built for Windows over and over again. The bad news is that it only supports 32-bit x86 binaries, meaning you can't just download the installer and start using it.

What if Edge Was Built Using the Windows Kernel API? Windows 7 introduced Hyper-V which was originally released in the form of Virtual PC.
