Why is NordVPN not connecting on macbook?
My macbook is connected to my home router and the internet via ethernet cable.
I have a USB 3.0 port on the back of the macbook which I'm using for the wifi connection.
I've tried turning off my wifi card, then re-connecting to the router, but the VPN connection is still not connecting. I've restarted my macbook, and tried a number of different configurations in my network settings.
When I try to connect it just hangs, and I get the 'Connecting to NordVPN.' message and nothing happens.
I've tried switching my network settings from DHCP to Static IP Address, and I've tried enabling the Mac Server feature in my router. I'm stumped, and I've tried everything I can think of. Any ideas? It's been a long time since I've used a Mac, so I don't know if that info would help you. If you could post the contents of your /etc/resolv.conf file and the contents of /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname files, that'd be a big help.

Why won't my VPN connect on my Mac?
I recently purchased an Anker PowerLine Universal Mobile Adapter for my Macbook Air (the one that looks like a dongle and connects to the USB port). I have it working great with my iOS devices, but it doesn't seem to want to work with my Macbook. When I plug it in it shows up as a new network connection and when I try to connect to it gives me the following error:
You are not authorized to connect to this network. I've tried a number of things including changing the name of the network, disabling and re-enabling the network, and even reinstalling the software. The only way I can get the network to connect is if I completely uninstall it, then install it again. I have the adapter plugged into the USB port, and I'm using the network settings on my Mac.
I recently purchased an Anker PowerLine Universal Mobile Adapter for my Macbook Air (the one that looks like a dongle and connects to the USB port). I've had that problem with this adapter too. I used to think it was a problem with the device, but I found out the problem was actually with my router. It turns out that the router was configured to block the VPN IP address.
I haven't been able to find a fix to that problem, so I just disable the option to automatically connect to a VPN. It works fine now.
I have an Anker PowerLine Universal Mobile Adapter, and I have been having problems connecting to a VPN. I am using the Windows version of the software, which I downloaded from Anker's website. I don't know if this could be causing the problem.
Why does NordVPN keep failing to connect?
I use NordVPN to connect to my home internet and my mobile internet at work.
Recently it's stopped working. I can't get to any websites, or even ping the router. If I switch to a wired connection, I can access the internet fine, but after a while my mobile internet at work starts timing out and I lose access to the internet for that connection as well. There are no failed packets in my logs. I have tried multiple routers and cable connections. In the end I am guessing it's a routing issue on my home network, but what? Is there any way to test this?
First of all, when you use a VPN you want your connection to be private, so it is important to make sure that nobody sees your data. To achieve that, you need to hide your traffic from other people. This is done by putting special encryption algorithms and protocols over your data. The best way to know if you are encrypting your data is by using the server's IP address. If you are sending your traffic over a specific port, it will be encrypted automatically by a protocol called TCP, but you can still check that your data is safe by using a software that checks if the data is encrypted.
There is another important aspect to keep in mind: VPNs are not fast. The reason why you cannot access the internet from a server over a VPN is that there are many packets of data that need to go through the encryption algorithm. So if you are going to use a VPN, you need to make sure that you have a fast internet connection, because the delay in getting your data through the encryption algorithm will cause the connection to time out.
If you are using a dynamic DNS service, you might want to check that the IP assigned to your VPN client is stable. Check that the IP assigned to your VPN client does not change when you lose internet access.
