Why is my VPN not working on my Firestick?

How do I get ExpressVPN to work on Firestick?

I have a problem with the video streaming of ExpressVPN, not all the videos are streaming in full.

It's been happening since last year.

I am using a 4G modem and the Wi-Fi connection is in the background. When I play videos from ExpressVPN website it plays in full with no interruptions. I have to manually stop the internet connection in order to let the streaming video to play full. I thought it was because of my VPN, but even if I disconnect from the VPN, the same thing is happening, which means it is not the VPN. Do you have any ideas how to solve this problem? Please share your solutions if you have any. Update: I've been browsing for solution for more than one hour now. As you can see, no one has ever experienced this problem. The problem is with me only. I've tried 3 different things (mentioned below) and none worked. What can I do?

Here's what I tried: Tried 3 different ExpressVPN versions. Connected to both Wi-Fi and 4G connections. I don't have any issue with Netflix or other streaming websites. ExpressVPN works fine with them.

If I download the .mp4 file from ExpressVPN directly, then the problem doesn't exist. So it's an issue with videos streaming from ExpressVPN server to my Firestick.

Here are the things I tried: Updated FireTV to latest version. Updated Firestick to latest version. Upgrade to Firestick 5.1 (if possible) Reset the Firestick and restarted. Restarting the device completely. Tried with different VPN server locations: San Francisco, USA, Singapore, Malaysia. Tried 2 different mobile connections: T-Mobile 4G and WiFi.e. Installed on both PC and Mac. Turned off all the Firestick settings (including DNS, WiFi, VPN and firewall). I've tried everything to fix this issue but none worked. There are no errors on any of my devices. I am getting nothing.

Why is my VPN not working on my Firestick?

I have a Fire TV stick, that I use for watching Netflix, Amazon Prime and also some of the VPN services.

The last couple of days, I have had issues with my connection when using VPNs (my ISP has changed the way they hand out IP addresses) but even when this is not the problem, it still shows up as a failed connection.

I have tried disabling the firewall, no dice. I have tried changing DNS from 8.8 to google DNS (as recommended by a member on this forum) no dice.

I have tried a different VPN, same issue. I have tried my wife's netflix app on her laptop and it connects to their server just fine, so I know the IP address is good. My Fire TV Stick works on other devices without any issues. When I am connected to the Fire TV Stick, I can browse web pages fine, and check email just fine, however when I try to use a VPN, it either hangs or times out. I have tried: A free one called "Unblock VPN" that is very basic, so you are only limited to 4 IP addresses. A paid one that I got in a bundle with an Amazon Prime subscription that I've had no luck with. I've tried a paid one called "VyprVPN" (also tried their free one) and it hangs on me when I try to connect. I've tried a paid one called "VyprVPN" and it hangs on me when I try to connect. If anyone has had any experience, or ideas about what I should be looking at here, that would be helpful. I am currently using a VPN called "VyprVPN" on my Firestick which uses a .ovpn file.

I can successfully connect to it over the wifi (I have to open the file and type in the login info manually) but when I close the file and open it again, the next time it connects it fails (even if the file hasn't been changed). It would be great if someone could help me out with this.

Why is ExpressVPN suddenly not working?

Is it in your internet settings?

Have you made sure that it's set to the correct protocol? And why does it not work at work? Does your company block port 443? Some VPN apps allow you to configure a "trust" level, I'm not sure if that'll work though.

Yes, and No. The default location in US is a good start, but with changing political/government laws and a lack of trust between VPN providers, it can quickly change to somewhere that doesn't really need to hide anything anymore.

Do you have VPN that is actually based in the US? I believe there is still enough protection against getting caught by the US Government using them. I know I have one with me, a free USA IP and it works great.

I mean, say you use a free VPN while online shopping, do they log you in, track you when you leave the site and then sell your data to others, which you'd have no way of knowing before buying it? Also, what you want for free, what you actually need. Are you just looking for a good deal, or some actual anonymity protection? I'm not going to say there are any good VPNs but some are known to provide free options of varying quality. Also I am not looking for any serious anonymity but just a simple free VPN so that my wife's personal device does not connect to work to make and edit images on her tablet. If there's any sort of Internet freedom, it would be in developing countries, where people just have access to the internet and get used to the "internet-age". It's easier for these people to get rid of their fear because they already know what online freedom is. Here, online freedom is becoming less popular everyday, and it is harder for the public to understand what is good and what isn't good.
