How do I fix no internet connection after VPN?

I have a router that the VPN connects to, but I would like to try running Windows on this computer.

The only reason why you cannot connect the pc from the router to the pc with the VPN activated or a second wifi that uses the router IP address, is because there is nothing to connect through the router if the VPN is connected. Yes this will make a difference with the connection, but not with any traffic of your WiFi device, so make sure you do not connect the pc directly to the router. I believe the easiest and least time consuming thing to do is to boot the laptop off of a LiveCD. You could also just connect to it over the vpn connection so you aren't disconnecting everything else. All you need for the computer to work as a stand alone machine, is an internet connection, an install CD and an unallocated drive.

You can try this, it might be the case that there are options for windows to connect to a modem or router directly (something like the connection type or setting in your vpn router)If not I am confused, you seem to be running two networks which should not be possible. This isn't a good practice, you should be able to figure out the problem without a "I have no Internet after setting up the VPN" error every hour. Can you post the errors and what is happening?

Here are some steps which helped me after a similar situation. The command-line tool is called resolvconf. Run the following command to get to it: gedit /etc/resolvconf/run/head. You should find something like this: cat /etc/network/interfaces. # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8). Auto lo. Iface lo inet loopback. Here we have to add the following lines: auto eth0. Iface eth0 inet static. Address 192.168.10.2

Hello All. I have a windows vpn tunnel that is connecting fine from my desktop to a server but when I try to browse the web (any website) using the internet, its only giving me 10% of the sites. I know the connection is because the internet is on the desktop and the server is connected to it via vpn tunnel so why do I not get 100% of the websites.

I am using a Microsoft Business VPN on my Windows 7 Laptop. I can access the internet using the VPN and I am receiving a ping response from the router. However, I cannot access the internet via the WAN interface when using the VPN. It seems to work fine, but it doesn't allow me to use any websites. I can get a ping response from the router, but I can't get a response from any other sites.

What I have seen: I can access the internet just fine using the VPN without any problems. I am able to ping the router, and get back a response. I can't access any websites when using the WAN IP address. I get a timeout from the site.

The IP address I have for the WAN interface is an internal address that is the same as my default gateway. When using the VPN, the IP address I have on the LAN interface is the IP address that the computer was assigned by DHCP and the IP address for the WAN interface is the IP address that the computer was assigned by DHCP.
