Last updated: May 26th, 2023. The VPN industry is booming right now. Some say it's the future of Internet security, some say it's the new way to access banned content, some say it's a tool that you should use to secure your personal data, but for many people, one question remains unanswered: ? Why should you use a VPN? You already know that it's important to protect yourself online. The internet is full of threats - cybercriminals, hackers, advertisers, government spies, and many others.

So if you're reading this, chances are that you're aware that your online presence is not private, but instead, it can be tracked and monitored. If you're using a VPN, this means that your traffic will be encrypted, which will in turn make it harder for people to see what you're doing on the web.

This is important because if you're going through any form of personal information, it's a good idea to make sure that you're protecting your privacy. And in today's world, privacy is everything.

So why do we need a VPN?

Why is NordVPN so slow on Mac?

You know I am a big fan of NordVPN and their excellent privacy offerings. But today I had a look at all their websites and services in my browser (chrome) and my experience is that all their web apps are SLOW like it just doesn't want to load anything from their servers. I have not had any connectivity issues with NordVPN so I don't understand why. To make it worse, they do give me warnings that there may be connection issues and if you click on download, there's a sorry can't connect pop up screen before even clicking to start. It's driving me nuts. My VPN connection goes through Google Fiber which is excellent so all the problems are not from them. Also, their twitter app takes forever to load. When I checked it this morning, it was still going and had been loading for about 40 minutes. I have never had any problems with their website or services ever. I have not asked anybody else so my problem could be me, could it? I have never heard about anybody else having the same issue.

I did try restarting the browser to make sure it was not an issue in Chrome. I also tried opening the NordVPN desktop app and the online site and had the same problem. But once I restarted the browser, it loaded just fine. Does anybody know what is going on here? Why is it only on Mac OS? Should it be working fine?

UPDATE: I have now downloaded their software on another system and it is the same as the other systems I've tried. It's just Mac OS.

I am using two NordVPN servers based in New Zealand and they both work very well. There is very little packet loss either when logging in or connecting. What you are experiencing seems to be an issue with all browsers on Mac. Try changing your dns server settings in the internet browser to use Google's DNS servers (8.8 and 8.4) or whichever ones you can get working best for you. I do not know how the browser app or desktop app handles the connection settings, but it is a pain point for me. I use Firefox on my Mac.
